in SHOT Show 2025

Taurus’s new GX2 is a compact 9mm pistol that aims to combine value and performance at an attractive price. While at the booth the rep highlighted several key improvements over its predecessor.

Taurus GX2
The GX2 from Taurus is about as budget-friendly as it gets with an MSRP of $310.

First, the GX2 comes with a 13-round magazine, an upgrade from the G2C’s 12 rounds. This offers a slight increase in ammo capacity without increasing the overall size of the firearm.

Notably, the GX2 features a new loaded chamber indicator: a window-style indicator, which offers a simpler way of checking if the chamber is loaded.

The standard capacity on the Taurus GX2 is 13 rounds.

The rear sight is now compatible with Glock sights, a shift from the proprietary sights on the earlier model. This should make finding replacement parts or upgrades easier for owners.

As for the trigger, it has no restrike capability. It is now more like your typical striker-fired pistol, similar to the GX4.

Another notable upgrade is the redesigned grip. With improved texture and slightly better ergonomics, it feels more comfortable in the hand compared to older models.

Taurus has also implemented a new serialization strategy with this pistol. The serialized component is now the trigger assembly. This means that the gun is now open to much more customization as Taurus releases additional grip modules.

Front serrations on the Taurus GX2 make manipulating the slide even easier.

Price-wise, the GX2 has an MSRP of $310, this seems like a solid deal considering the improvements made to the platform.

That is about the same price as the G2C and with the suite of upgrades, the GX2 is sure to be popular with buyers looking for an affordable carry option.

The Taurus GX2 is already available to distributors, meaning it should be hitting shelves soon. Be sure to head over to Taurus’ Website for more information on the GX2 or to find a dealer near you.

The mags look cheap … otherwise, if I were on a budget – I would.
