A Precision Rifle That Fits In A Briefcase! Tace Mortem — SHOT Show 2024

Estimated reading time: 4 minutes

At Shot Show 2024, GunsAmerica met up with Rob from Bravo 4 Actual to investigate one of the coolest guns making waves at the event – Tace Mortem, a precision long-range rifle.

This rifle breaks down so that it can be stored, in this instance, in a laptop case!

Rob confidently stated that he could assemble and have this rifle ready to shoot within one minute, thanks to the consistent return to zero that the Tace Mortem provides.

Watch the video above to see his speedy and impressive demonstration of firepower.

The Tace Mortem is mission-configurable.

Inside this tiny case, we find a full chassis rifle with a suppressor, bipod, and a mounted/zeroed scope. To assemble the Tace Mortem, the rifle stock can first be unfolded.

Next, screw the barrel onto the B4A action. Even between removals and installs, this precision-machined barrel will yield a perfect return to zero, so there is no need to re-zero the rifle after its assembly.

After the barrel is attached, the handguard can be connected by tightening two thumb screws. Once that is on, all that remains is the attachment of your bipod and/or suppressor. Rob easily assembled this whole system in under a minute.

These two thumbscrews are what attach the handguard of the Vision chassis. loosen these and you can remove the handguard.

The rifle action, as mentioned, is made by Bravo 4 Actual and is held to the tightest of tolerances to allow the perfect return to zero when removing and reinstalling the barrel. The rifle chassis is made by Vision with a folding stock and removable forend.

The barrel that is used is a Lothar Walther barrel and it’s attached to the action by way of Bravo 4 Actual’s own design that yields a consistent return to zero. This rifle system comes with two barrels, custom action, Bix’N Andy trigger, 2 AICS-pattern magazines, the Vision chassis and a laptop case for an MSRP of $10,400.

Rob also tells us that this system will shoot sub-half-minute groups! Tiny groups from a tiny rifle only seem fitting.

The Tace Mortem is incredibly compact and portable.

This system is not budget-friendly, as I’m sure Rob would even tell you. However, the Tace Mortem does several things that I’m not sure any other platform out there can do.

First, the consistent return to zero on a quick-change barrel system is impressive. When coupled with the small footprint that this rifle breaks down into, the Tace Mortem falls into its own category.

For LEO or military applications, getting a rifle into strategic areas that is capable of accurate, covert strikes is invaluable. The smaller the rifle is for transport, the less conspicuous. I’m positive that there will be some readers who will rage at the MSRP, but truth be told this product, likely, isn’t made for you.

For the other readers who’s life depends on the quality and attributes of their gear, the Tace Mortem is something that you should be looking into.

*NOTE* Bravo 4 Actual makes this rifle. Valhalla Tactical’s logo just happens to be in the photo. The Tace Mortem is mission-capable and adaptable. Barrels and calibers can be swapped in seconds and the whole system is incredibly portable and inconspicuous in a laptop case.

Well that’s all cool and everything but Scorpio was drilling people in 1971 with a briefcase take down customized Arisaka rechambered to 30’06. It held a zero and was even suppressed …..has to be true it was on Dirty Harry, the original one 🤣 i bet his wasn’t 10K. But yeah…this is for wetwork…whether it be regular criminals or corrupt government funded ones. This thing isn’t for the masses.

Agreed, caliber capability/compatibility is conspicuous by its absence.

  • Rock February 5, 2024, 9:32 am

Nothing in this writeup as to what caliber this rifle shoots. Nothing on their website either.

    • Spud February 5, 2024, 10:02 am

It says on the website it comes with 2 barrels in 308, 6mm, 6.5cm, or 338blk. Or 300NM, 338LM
