Marianne Williamson, a candidate vying for the 2020 Democratic nomination for president, spoke out about how to “combat the epidemic of gun violence in the U.S.” in a recent video published by uPolitics.
Williamson, an author and an activist by trade, proposed the following: enacting universal background checks, closing “the loopholes,” outlawing the AR-15, banning bump stocks (which have already been banned), putting serial numbers on bullets and…
“When we outlaw them [ARs] there will be so many millions on the street, so we need to stop selling the ammunition. We need to stop producing the ammunition for the AR-15,” she explained.

Wonder if she means just standard .223 Rem and 5.56 NATO or all the various AR calibers: .300 AAC Blackout / .300 Whisper, 6.5 Grendel, 6.8 Remington SPC, 5.7x28mm, 7.62x39mm, .458 SOCOM, .50 Beowulf, etc.
But let us not forget, AR-pattern firearms also come in common pistol calibers: 9mm, .40 S&W, .45 ACP and are also chambered for the ubiquitous .22LR.
Should we stop production on all of those as well?
On a positive note, and unlike some of her competitors, Williamson did seem reluctant to roll out a national registry of gun owners.
“Some people believe we should register guns. But I also understand how people of color, particularly, ‘Go, no, we don’t want that done,’ because they understandably do not wish to see a database somewhere where law enforcement can see who has the guns,” she said.
Depending on which survey you consult, Williamson is polling between 0 – 1 percent.

It may happen some day. Being a reloader, I have put away a ton of prepped 5.56 cases-very cheap on GB. Like $70/k. Already trimmed, sized, etc. ready to load. A buddy and I split a huge pack of 62 gr tips (green tips). A jug of surplus powder, and a sleeve of primers, and this winter I will fire up the 650 to crank them out. Box them up and stick them away in sealed cans. Much cheaper than buying it.

The problem we have is a mental health problem. All the forms that need to be filled out to go to school/college. They should enact a physic evaluation of students to identify and mental issues and recommend treatment. People with mental illness seem to be ignored or slipping through the cracks.
Secondly reduce the gun free zones in schools and churches. All this does is create soft targets that these bad actor look for.

If people were sincere about tackling the problem of firearms used against one another, they need to make themselves aware of the data that is readily available. Each year, the FBI compiles a comprehensive report of all crimes committed in the U.S. including what firearms were used in the commission of homicides (a person killing another; justifiable in some cases). In 2017, the FBI reported a total of 10,982 homicides using a firearm in the U.S. Of these, 7,032 handguns were used, while 403 rifles of all varieties (some of which are labeled AR’s) were used. Knives and blunt instruments account for 1591 and 407 respectively. Those maintaining this campaign against AR’s have nothing to do with reducing deaths, as the statistics point out. They are either in pursuit of a personal agenda or are like Quixote and Sancho fighting windmills.

According to the lawmakers of california as well as the ninth circuir court, firing pin that embed the gun’s serial no. on the case AND the bullet does exist. This is mandated on all semi-auto handguns sold in Ca. as of 2019 unless that model has been previously grandfathered.
