See the Ways Californians Are Circumventing Gun Control Set to Roll Out in 2018

Rich Howell shows off a California-compliant rifle.  Proof that Californians will not be denied their 2A rights. (Photo: Reno Gazette Journal).

Necessity is the mother of invention, right?  No one knows that better than Californians.

Over the years the state has passed law after law infringing on their right to keep and bear arms.  But with every turn of the screw, Californians have fought back, finding new workarounds that allow them to maintain some semblance of their 2A rights while vexing anti-gunners in the process.

With 2018 around the corner.  Here are some examples of what Californians are doing to stick it to their overlords in Sacramento.

Law: No more Online Ammo Sales (2018), Background Checks for All Ammo Sales (2019)

Workaround: Buy ammo out of state.  Simple as that.  For Californians who live along border states like Arizona, Nevada, and Oregon it’ll be relatively easy.  For everyone else, it might be a long car ride.  Still, go for a road trip.  Buy in bulk.  And be done with it. Don’t give them the satisfaction or the tax revenue from purchasing from California vendors. Sorry California ammo sellers, you’ll have to take one for the team on this.

Law: Bullet Button Ban (2018)

Workaround: The Bullet Button was a workaround against the state’s initial ban on black rifles with detachable magazines, telescoping stocks, flash hiders, and pistol grips. It’s a simple device that secures a magazine to a rifle so that it cannot detach without the use of a tool (or tip of a bullet) to disengage it.

Lawmakers caught on to the Bullet Button and banned it.  As part of that legislation, they are requiring current owners with a bullet button on their rifle to register it with the state.  Heck no!  To escape this nonsense, just remove the Bullet Button and add a Patriot Pin.

A Patriot Pin circumvents the law because with the device installed a user cannot detach a magazine without opening the action.  The beauty of the Patriot Pin is that it’s a rapid way to open the action and, thus, release the mag.  Basically, with the push of a button.

Law: Black Rifle Ban

Workaround: Suppose you don’t want to go the route of the Patriot Pin or the Bullet Button. There is a way to have a rifle with a detachable magazine.  The tradeoff is you can’t have any features.  No collapsing stock, no flash hider, no pistol grip.

The solution is a featureless rifle.  An AR with a funky-looking non-pistol grip, a fixed stock and no flash hider.  They’re ugly.  Hideous compared to standard ARs.  But they’ll get the job done.  What’s more, it is yet another way to flip off the powers that be.

Law: Ban on Carrying Long Guns in Unincorporated Areas (2018)

Workaround: While the state legislature passed this law, the decision on whether it applies to various areas is actually up to the local counties.  Convince the board members in your county not to enact the new rule and it won’t take effect.  Easier said than done if you live outside of counties like Los Angeles or San Diego.  Nevertheless, give it a go.

Conclusion

Rich Howell (see video below) made an astute observation in an interview with the Reno Gazette-Journal.

“They can pass all the laws they want, and I can guarantee you we are going to find a way around them,” said Howell, the general manager of Olde West Gun & Loan in Redding, CA.

Ain’t that the truth.

Just have and carry a Jo staff as a weapon to bypass all gun laws.

  • Larry December 31, 2017, 3:42 pm

Since I am stuck in CA, I guess will go from legal gun owning resident, to felon after the first of the year. SMH

  • Bobs yer uncle December 31, 2017, 1:48 pm

My slant is, Calif. regulations are tough for a reason, that being that 25% of 12 million or so illegals live in Calif. if they were to be armed with modern weapons they would not need to vote, they would simply take it. Sorry but thats your creepy future Calif, welcome to the third world.

    • OFBG January 1, 2018, 7:32 pm

Sorry, but you haven’t been paying attention, have you? The – to use the description popular in these forums – Libtards who run the Golden State and make up most of its population could not care less about your citizenship, they just hate guns. Period.

    • mcfoo July 13, 2018, 6:13 pm

Sorry Bob- We would shoot them if that happened. A lame exclude to trample rights and immigration is a separate issue. Why do you think USA has not been taken over by another country during past wars? Because citizens have arms and will shoot. Lets not remove that RIGHT, How has that level of government tyrant action worked out for France or UK? not good. Good guys need guns too.

  • Boss December 31, 2017, 12:03 pm

    Amendment II
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
The original intent of “A well regulated militia” was the People could join the military or become the military to protect the state and/or the People with the same arms as the military.
The 2A writer(s) never “envisioned” there would be a difference between the arms of the People and the military.
That being said, regulating full auto can be done constitutionally but limiting the number of full auto to increase the price so that only the rich can own them IS unconstitutional! Therefor Firearm Owners’ Protection Act of 1986 (FOPA) IS unconstitutional! It goes far beyond regulation to infringing access to arms by the People.
The 2A Demands the People be familiar and able to use arms currently in use by the military, thus the AR15 (and the M16 regulated) must be accessible (without modification to the basic operation) to the People. As such attacks on the free ownership and use of the AR15 and/or the ammunition is a direct attack on Amendment II of the Constitution of the United States of America!
The AR15 is the current Second Amendment arm of the People, any restriction of the legal ownership and use is unconstitutional. There is also an argument for owning AK type arms as OJT having to use one is problematic.
The American military should have a Program to train Civilians on Marksmanship with the current military weapons.

“Both oligarch and tyrant mistrust the people, and therefore deprive them of arms” – Aristotle

    • I Love Liberty July 19, 2018, 6:11 pm

I really like the AR-15 now that it available in many different calibers. The calibers I chose were .300 AAC Blackout and 9 millimeter Luger. If 6.5 x 39 Grendel were a decent price I would have went with that instead as it is one of the best AR-15 rounds but it is expensive.

I like to target shoot with the 9 millimeter Luger and use the .300 AAC Blackout as a self defense weapon.

      • Thomas September 6, 2020, 7:08 pm

100gr Russian 6.5 Grendel is very cheep to shoot it doesn’t have long range but a good plinker round for long range commercial hulls reloaded work well with good 123gr bullets

  • Bart December 31, 2017, 1:53 am

As a co-owner of the Patriot-Pin, let me say that it DOES NOT make your rifle compliant!!! All the Patriot-Pin is, is just a easy rear take-down pin, and has nothing to do with making it compliant!

    • mcfoo July 13, 2018, 6:18 pm

correct- you MUST make the rifle a “break action” – meaning you must pull the rear takedown pin and flip the upper away from lower to be able to remove the magazine. there are devices for sale like the AR Maglock or Bullet Button Reloaded.

I would like the patriot pin if the lever were not so long. Too easy to knock and pop your action. also interferes with a sling. there are better and less expensive rear pin options on the market.

  • Greg December 30, 2017, 12:30 pm

So… How much is it to become a licensed ammo vendor? How many people could apply for the license to simply have ammo shipped to their home?

  • Ken December 29, 2017, 9:44 pm

BEWARE! The author’s so-called ammo “workaround” is not true. The law prohibits any person from bringing ammo into California.

    • Greg December 30, 2017, 12:31 pm

agree, that’s not really a workaround if there are criminal penalties for getting caught. might as well ignore all the laws.

  • RogerS December 29, 2017, 8:59 pm

As it shoud be! You can also opine your thoughts using a quill pen if you so desire…but I notice you didn\’t do that here.

  • Jerry Kunzman December 29, 2017, 7:54 pm

We’er a retail gun shop in northern ca. We are helping customers find internet deals and accepting/ processing all order free of charge, although we do have to collect sales tax. If bringing it from out of state (more than 50rds) is legal, we fully support that as well. However, we remember reading the bill that passed restricting this. Do you have a penal code section that shows where people can bring it in? If so, we’ll share your page and article with our Facebook followers.

  • fritz bousigschouer December 29, 2017, 7:19 pm

or simply do the correct way and shout fuck it & leave that horror place in usa and select a gun friendly place so once and for all you dont have to deal with liberal bs that hurts your legal rights anymore! 2018 – do it!

    • Grumpy 0331 December 30, 2017, 8:01 pm

Did this in 2010. Immediate 10% raise in my retirement (no income tax in NV). Can buy all the guns I want and any size magazine the same day I walk in the store. Let’s all help CA secede from the Union and build a wall around it.

  • PHIl December 29, 2017, 6:58 pm

Master Class Bullets ships ALL ammo to residents of California for FREE!

  • Mike Watkins December 29, 2017, 4:49 pm

EFF California government! But guess what! The real problem is the massive number of idiot voters that keeps putting idiots in office. And YES, it’s a disease that spreads. Colorado, Washington, other states that used to be run by folks with common sense, circling the drain right now. New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Illinois, etc. already long gone.

All part, in my opinion, of the United States declining to be no more than a second rate power. Can it be stopped? Not in my lifetime, I think.

    • Darryl January 1, 2018, 3:59 am

don’t forget Colo., Tx. and Tenn. Cool. is the worse by far as of late. but Tx. and Tenn. are coming up fast. never in my dreams thought Tx. would allow the kind of crap to happen to them as has been going down lately. Tenn. has got so many liberal’s there that for years now you can’t even get 100% gas for your cars anymore. this may be the way it is in lots of other states but my brother lives there is how i found this out. i’m always reading about this or that happening in Tx. and Tenn. that the liberal’s are pushing. loved Tenn. when i lived there in the late 70’s and early 80″s. this is the main problem with Cali. and their liberal trash it leaves there and starts spreading it’s trashy ideal’s when they get to other states. just glad our state has held tuff so far when it comes to our freedoms.

      • Brian Hillis October 25, 2020, 5:07 pm

Don’t forget Virginia. Govenor blackface hates guns and has passed many terrible gun laws in the NY billionaire sponsered house and senate.

  • Chuck December 29, 2017, 3:07 pm

I’m SO GLAD I don’t live in the land of FRUITS AND NUTS.

  • Goose December 29, 2017, 2:52 pm

Just a question about the NRA, why is an organisation I support trying so hard to get the slide stock or bump stock regulated or banned I dont know much about this but it seems the NRA is going against all I believe in about arms? we used to do the same thing with rubber bands and some still do, how does the average citizen defend against the bad guys that has them there is no way this makes an AR or anything else a machine gun the barrels are much inferior and are not cooled, fire your AR,or mini, rapid fire like a machine gun and it will melt the barrel the guy in Vegas new this that is why he had so many! one melted grab another. Back to the NRA if one person in the crowed had something to defend themselves the outcome I am sure would have been somewhat different, if the NRA keeps permoeting any kind of gun control about something that is already legal I will find it my duty to stop permoeting the NRA!

    • OFBG December 30, 2017, 9:58 pm

Many years ago I had a girlfriend who called me “Goose,” short for “silly goose” as a term of endearment. You. however, are far beyond “silly.”
How did you get the idea that the NRA is “trying so hard to get the slide stock or bump stock regulated or banned?”
      Try to pay attention.
The NRA suggested that the ATF re-evaluate its evaluation of the Slidefire stock in light of the brief focus on such devices by anti-gun groups and the mainstream media. Any new regulation of “bumpstocks” by ATF – if made – would preclude any legislation banning such devices as has been proposed by anti-gun Democrats.
This is a good thing. Any legislative ban on “bumpstocks” would put us on that “slippery slope” allowing bans on any, many, other firearms and “devices” deemed hazardous by the gun-control lobby.

  • Roy December 29, 2017, 1:42 pm

Lots of comments for what people in CA should do, but I think this is as much a US problem as it is a Komiforina problem – liberalism is a cancer, it spreads. I do not live in CA, but I can help and send a subtle message to the nuts in Sacramento by doing one simple thing. If I need or want a product, I look were it is made and where the company who distributes it is headquartered. I buy southern first and I only buy products made in or distributed through CA if I have to. I will buy American before Chinese, but I will buy Californian last.

    • Goose December 29, 2017, 2:58 pm

Very good thought , hear is another one send a one way ticket to Jerry & Dian to eny ware outside of Calif

    • Leonard Feinman December 29, 2017, 3:48 pm

The California ban will eventually be overturned for practical reasons. Too many people already own guns and will never turn them in or register them. It may make criminals out of some people, but the real criminals will be unaffected. The real criminals will still have police protection, as they are the government.
Banning guns has never worked. Some people comply, but they are not the target of the lawmakers.

      • OFBG January 3, 2018, 8:06 pm

Sorry, Leonard, but as someone who lived in the Golden State but left – to be fair, mostly for other reasons than gun control – I believe that I can say with some confidence your belief that Californian gun owners might play the “from my cold, dead hands” card is wrong.
Although they might own guns, Californians who live there by choice rather than necessity are Kalifornians first, anything else, after.
While I lived there I saw so many of my friends, neighbors, and shooting buddies register their “assault weapons” with Santa Clara County (and later, the State) that I realized the non-gun oriented facets of their lifestyles overruled any pro-gun opinions they might have had.
In the year we moved back to New Mexico there was a sizable exodus of Kalifornians to here, mostly spurred by taxes and housing prices. Within a few years most of them went “home;” Albuquerque had no Nordstroms, gelato, southern-Californian, pseudo-Mexican food…need I go on? Considering the non-paranoid gun laws we have had in the Land of Enchantment, I have to assume that gun rights were not at the top of their list.

  • JOHN T. FOX December 29, 2017, 1:40 pm

THESE WORKAROUNDS ARE AN UNFORTUNATE NECESSITY BECAUSE OF ELECTING REJECTS TO PUBLIC OFFICE. FIRST ELIMINATE REJECTS FROM THE POOL OF CANDIDATES RUNNING FOR OFFICE. SECOND ELECT THOSE WHO WILL ELIMINATE THESE DUMBASS LAWS AND PERMANENTLY BAN THEM FROM BEING PASSED, IMPLEMENTED OR ENFORCED!
AS FOR THESE SPECIALIZED GUNS TO GET AROUND IDIOTIC AND UNCONSTITUTIONAL LAWS, MAKE THEM ADAPTABLE SO THAT THE ILEGAL ELEMENTS CAN STILL BE USED. HAVE DETACHABLE PISTOL GRIPS INCLUDED WITH THE GUN. MAKE THE BRL SO THAT A FLASH SUPPRESSOR CAN BE EASILY ATTACHED AND PLACE WITHIN THE BOX. OR SELL A KIT THAT INCLUDES THE BANNED ITEMS. USE CHAMELEON PAINT FOR THE STOCKS. IT IS CONSTANTLY CHANGING COLORS BASED UPON LIGHT AND BACKGROUND. SUPPLY A ZIP UP OR VELCRO COVER FOR THE RIFLE IN BLACK OR CAMO FOR THE STOCK. INSTEAD OF USING CLIPS USE A FIXED TUBE MAGAZINE, WHICH CAN HOLD AS MANY SHELLS AS POSSIBLE. LIKE A MARLIN 60 .22 LR DOES. AND ALWAYS CRYO TREAT YOUR BRLS AT 300BELOW.COM TO IMPROVE PERFORMANCE!

    • Edward Allen December 30, 2017, 2:44 pm

If we could get about a million of you who tell us not to elect the idiots to move to Calif, then we cold get them out. The problem is that they allow illegals and the dead to vote. Please, move to Calif and help us fight. IF we lose completely here, it is only a matter of a few years and you will lose everywhere.

      • David Moore December 30, 2017, 8:18 pm

I would be very surprised if the dead can vote in CA. The ballot would have to be presented or mailed as an absentee ballot and would require a signature on the envelope. The signature would be scanned at the Election Headquarters and electronically compared with the voter registration card. If the signature does not compare with the voter registration card, the envelope is not opened and is discarded.

        • OFBG January 3, 2018, 8:09 pm

Ah yes, in a perfect world. In our world, however, how many signatures can’t be forged?

  • AmericanMade December 29, 2017, 12:55 pm

  • Norm Fishler December 29, 2017, 12:31 pm

My advice to those still abiding in CA is simply to GTFO! Since I last was last there in 1974 I have refused to go back and will not ever again if I can possibly avoid it. Several times I have driven an extra 200 miles to go around rather than through. It is the spiritual, moral, social and political trash bin of America. Why put yourself through the grief. Get out; the sooner the better.

    • Eugene D Salazar December 29, 2017, 2:03 pm

Amen I moved out seven years ago and felt the anti gun political weight lifted off my shoulders.

  • Patrick Duffy December 29, 2017, 10:34 am

But you can still carry all the weapons existing at the time of the Bill of Rights……..

    • Canoeal December 29, 2017, 7:26 pm

That is a very stupid statement. Of course you can carry what will not defend you or your country from and over bearing gov’t that has the full compliment of weapons of war. When you look at a musket or BP rifle in colonial times they were the best there was. You took yours with you into battle. Many of the cannons and big guns around the cities of the Northeast are guns that were first purchased as private weapons. According to you, our military should sill be using muskets. No, we were always expected, and until now, allowed to own the same weapons the military carried, in order to keep pace. Yes now you pay a steep price to do so but that ownership was the intent.
Grow up. Grow a set, and read the writings of those who wrote and supported the Bill or Rights. Stop talking out of your a$$. It is just your type that is going to allow gov’t take-away’s of all of your rights. Without the Second Amendment, none of the others would stand against a militarized police, ans armed forces . Learn from History. Po-pot removed guns, Hitler took guns, Stalin did too. North Koreans can’t own a gun. Which of those societies do you want to live in? It is the presence of an armed citizenry that keeps it from happening.

    • Hitler Hated California December 30, 2017, 9:08 am

Yeah that’s not even close to true. Are you one of those morons that think the founding fathers only wanted/expected us to have muskets? Because you might want to do some, hell any research.

  • thomas jefferson December 29, 2017, 10:23 am

If you live in the Communist State of Kalifonication, i would FIRST suggest moving. However, DO NOT bring with you Libtard ideals, or communist values. You will not find welcoming and open arms to those attitudes. If you must continue to exist in that communist wasteland and want ammo, I suggest FLYING it in. Yes it is heavy, but in a typical Cessna 172 you could haul 20+ cases at a time. I have to tell you, I’ve been flying for nearly 40 years and NEVER have I been “pulled over” in the sky. Never have I been stopped at an “aerial checkpoint”. You simply fly over the checkpoints and flip-off the man. I love doing that. If you don’t fly yourself, find a relative or friend. It’s not that hard.

  • Larry December 29, 2017, 10:18 am

I think everyone is missing the point. The actual reason 2A was put in place! (And enough with the States Rights hogwash! The Right to keep and Bear Arms was already delegated “(To) The People shall not be infringed”, not to be delegated to the States).
It just might be the time to use said Rifles for the reason it was intended Defending against enemies that are Domestic. Californians may think they are getting ahead of ‘the letter of law(s)’ with “Bullet Buttons” and “Patriot Pins” but in reality, There will always be another Legislative Session and slowly the Unarmed Frog will be cooked.

  • Jay December 29, 2017, 10:08 am

The really only significant work around is for all gun owners and companies to leave Commiefornia! Nothing else will show them who is in control. When you hit these political hacks where it hurts, the pocket book, they listen or the State collapses of its own doing! I’ve got many new neighbors from Commiefornia and from their own mouths I’ve heard, wow I never knew I wasn’t free until I moved! Another, It’s like living in another country, wow, I so don’t miss Cali!

    • george hovey December 29, 2017, 11:52 am

CA might think this an excellent outcome.

  • Nick December 29, 2017, 10:02 am

I was recently asked by a Washington resident what to do about the coming disarmament of citizens in that state. Most people in this nation, and that sadly includes those who think they support the 2nd, don’t understand that the intention is complete disarmament. More importantly, they don’t understand, and in most cases refuse to, what it takes to change the course without bloodshed.
I asked a friend who has written extensively on the 2nd, is a constitutional scholar, and is a true supporter of the right to keep and bear arms.
His response; Start talking to people about what is a true “republican form of government”, and “a free State”…then ask what the Constitution says is “necessary” for the security of a free State”…then talk about what that “necessary” thing is, who controls it, and why…and go from there.

    • David December 29, 2017, 12:40 pm

I keep trying to do that. Alot of ears/minds are turned off even when a calm tone is used.

  • Nick M December 29, 2017, 8:51 am

Why do you still live in California? Because you write software? So what. Do you not know right from wrong? Take away their electoral votes. Let them be second to Texas. Toyota and Nestle figured it out. Toyota was a battle because Toyota North America is corporatism at its finest.

  • Steve Burleson December 29, 2017, 8:45 am

Why not simply band together and voter the anti-gun lawmakers out? Thjat’s an original idea!

    • G December 29, 2017, 9:56 am

The Democrats learned back in the late 80’s that if you promise “free” things, you can push through any agenda you’d like. The Democrat stands up and says, “I’m for free healthcare for everyone.” The Republican, knowing nothing is free, “You can’t do that, the logistics, the cost………………..” Now the Voter hears, “The Democrat wants to give me free healthcare and the Republican doesn’t.” Where’s the vote going.

We here in in California have recourse, the Courts. hahahaha There isn’t a pro-gun law that winds up before the 9th that will be affirmed. (This is a wasted step) We then look to the SCOTUS, but they just turned down hearing our latest case: “Whether the Second Amendment entitles ordinary, law-abiding citizens to carry handguns outside the home for self-defense in some manner, including concealed carry when open carry is forbidden by state law.” The 9th ruling on this, “It’s not an infringement on your 2nd, when other remedies are available for you to exercise your 2nd such as, OPEN CARRY.” Open carry is illegal in California, so that’s not an available remedy, but SCOTUS didn’t return it to the 9th for further review, but declined to hear it.

Our newest case heading the SCOTUS, is about our 10 day wait (Cooling off) period. A CCW holder has challenged this law stating he already has been approved to carry by LE and has guns in his possession, so the 10 days is mute as long as he passes his instant background. As stated on this board, the cancer that is California is spreading on the West Coast, Oregon & Washington are losing their identity to free things.

    • Tom December 29, 2017, 10:18 am

Gun owners in CA have tried for years to change the legislative landscape. Too many liberal, anti-gun people live there for that to happen.

Also, the problem with all of these onerous, blatant infringements, is that the state’s DOJ takes an anti-gun law, let’s it sit for a few years and then cranks it up a notch or twenty through the administrative process and makes non-compliance a felony.

Of course, there’s always the 9th Circus Court of Appeals…

I took the geographic remedy and moved to Arizona. Unfortunately, a number of anti-gunners live here as well and think that “common sense” gun laws are a good idea. 2018 will be an interesting year.

  • Ronnie December 29, 2017, 8:22 am

Dictator Jerry Brown and his Gestapo are fully in charge of preventing all of the crime in California.
He just pardoned two illegal aliens that had criminal records for crimes they committed here in America.
Something is dreadfully wrong with the leadership in that state.

  • Corey Sallee December 29, 2017, 8:18 am

California can pass all the laws they want against law abiding citizens and watch there crime rate and gang violence continue to escalate. I’ll be just fine in Iowa, where the only things we shoot are targets, deer, and the occasional criminal. Proudly, with our open carry guns and suppressors. By California standards, we should all be locked up as a danger to the public. Sorry if i find it the other way around..

  • Jeffrey L. Frischkorn December 29, 2017, 7:03 am

I am always amazed at the ingenuity of what the fertile mind of Americans can achieve…

    • MickD December 29, 2017, 12:22 pm

This is because the majority of people that make laws in government were the D students in school and couldn’t make it real world.

    • OFBG January 2, 2018, 5:43 pm

That’s because – as a good friend of mine likes to say – “we are a problem-solving species.”
Unfortunately, those “D” students that MickD mentions (and I think he flatters them by giving them a “D”) feel the need to manufacture problems to “solve,” hence gun control.

  • Charles Salsman December 29, 2017, 4:57 am

Lets not call it a “work around” lets call it what it is, ” beating or exceeding” by the arbitrary rules set forth by a governing body who is out of touch with reality.

    • Hugh December 30, 2017, 11:44 am

I prefer to call it “complying with” the rules, albeit with some imagination.

      PLEASE DONT MOVE!

You sir get the gold star. Thank you for having the correct attitude.
The idea of leaving CA with your tail tucked in between your legs without the fight would have the three percent of the colonist rolling in their graves.
I’m originally from Texas and have made friends with a lot of progun Californians. I chose to stay here California in the belly of the beast and fight the core of the disease.

Appreciate the efforts of gun manufacturers to help our brothers and sisters in Kommieformia, but the mere fact that these “innovations” have to be invented gets more infuriating every year. Not one criminal or terrorist is going to give a rats ass about these regulations

    • Bobs yer uncle December 27, 2017, 10:06 pm

yes, shouldn’t the news headline be “Criminal gangs and terrorists adopt new firearms regulations” A spokesman for MS13 said “after years of shooting and murdering people with stolen illegal guns we don’t want to ignore those tough regulations and severe penalties”

  • Sepp W December 27, 2017, 8:06 am

Californians signed up (voted) for this kind of stuff and so Californians will experience the joys of one-party, union-run progressive governance.

    • MJ December 29, 2017, 10:21 am

You hit the nail right on the head \”union-run progressive governance\” bolstered by outright socialist/commies!

  • Zhang December 26, 2017, 6:34 pm

We cannot buy ammo out of state and bring it back to California. Full stop. Proposition 63 specifically makes that illegal, and it is enforceable. There are only a few highways that connect to the three neighboring states of Oregon, Nevada, and Arizona. Every one of these highways has an agricultural checkpoint station, and these stations could easily be repurposed by the state DOJ and law enforcement for ammo checks.

    • Robert Smith December 26, 2017, 10:27 pm

Here is a quote from Traffic.Findlaw.com you may find interesting:
“Using checkpoints and roadblocks to help combat crime generally runs afoul of the Fourth Amendment, however. In City of Indianapolis v. Edmond, the [U.S. Supreme] Court struck down a program of running checkpoints to intercept illegal drugs, ruling that the primary purpose of the program was indistinguishable from the general interest in crime control.”
In other words, they can’t enforce it in the manner in which you suggest.

    • IYearn4nARnCali December 28, 2017, 7:12 pm

For NOW, reloading is still legal, TEMPORARILY. The Dumbocrats ARE moving to legislate away reloading supplies VERY soon. Licensing and registration of ammo vendors are clearly a method to chill the free exercise of the 2nd Amendment. Case in point, no one has vendors licenses because CAL DOJ isn’t INTERESTED in providing them, cause they hate 2A, BUT, temporary pot selling licenses are being issued right NOW, because the STATE will make tons of cash off of weeders.

When Sessions is finished bringing in the big fish, PLEASE for the love of GAWD, help us break the stranglehold of Democrats who CAN’T be voted out! The Supremes will NOT hear our cases because they don’t WANT TO, were are nearly out of LEGAL methods of redress of grievance here. Nearly.

      • Kenny Smith December 29, 2017, 10:55 pm

Iyearn, you brought up a good point. One of the most important things we as citizens of this country must do is get rid of the way that we have permanent elites, supremes or just scum in office. It needs to have a vote every few years ,just like other officials do. Because it is ridiculous to have people in perm positions making way more money than they should. Calishittery and Quack York are the two worst offenders. God bless America, Trump and the second amendment. Liberalism, it’s a disease and we need a cure !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Jeff December 29, 2017, 6:38 am

Zhang, you said, “Every one of these highways has an agricultural checkpoint station, and these stations could easily be repurposed by the state DOJ and law enforcement for ammo checks.” I’m hate to break it to you Zhang but that is not true as the 4th, 5th, and 14th Amendments protects the people from this. An Agricultural check point is only an administrative stop and therefore they may only inspect a private vehicle for “agricultural specific items” for which there must still be consent or probable cause for the search. This is different for commercial transports. Also, CA Agricultural Inspectors have no law enforcement authority whatsoever. See you all at the next Nevada gun show, as usual hahaha! 😉

    • Douglas December 29, 2017, 9:40 am

      That is correct:
30314. (a) Commencing January 1, 2018, a resident of this state shall not bring or transport into
this state any ammunition that he or she purchased or otherwise obtained from outside of this
state unless he or she first has that ammunition delivered to a licensed ammunition vendor for
delivery to that resident pursuant to the procedures set forth in Section 3 0312.

      • Judi December 29, 2017, 10:28 am

Geeeze. I’d have spent all my money on ammo instead of Christmas presents! Thousands and thousands of rounds of various calibers!

      • MadMagyar December 30, 2017, 12:29 am

Part of the problem with ALL of the men and women, in any state, is ignorance of the law (in the very real sense of that Maxim). Who told you that you are what’s defined in code or statute as a “resident”? Does anybody here know what one is? Does anybody here even know what the legal (code or statutory) definition of a “person” is?

99.00% of everybody’s problems with Kommifornia would go away if they merely studied law and figured out what they are and are not. In the meantime, there’s nothing in that “code” (which is NOT a “law” – as in COMMON law – that says you can’t ask a friend or family member who lives elsewhere to bring it to you AS A GIFT. You can PAY for it online, the online store just won’t ship it to a Kommunist address. Have your friend in Reno, Phoenix, or Grant’s Pass bring it to you. Until, that is, you figure out whether you’re a man / woman (no others need apply) or a corporate fiction.

Me thinks that i have a 4th amendment right somewhere in that thing we call a US Constitution. I have been dealing with the same Unconstitutional laws in NY state. We have fought in court to no avail , and tried everything to boot these politicians out of office without success. SO, i will soon be moving to South Carolina. I encourage all of you that are reading this who are living in one of the peoples republics of NY, Kalifornia,Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maryland, Ect to move out and shake off the dust from your feet when you leave …

      • kyle December 29, 2017, 10:02 pm

Vote with your feet…….let those liberal states suffocate on all their BS legislation!

  • Mark N. December 26, 2017, 6:25 pm

That FDE “compliant” (i.e. noncollapsible) stock is the old model Thordsen. The new model stock is much better looking. More importantly, it is quite comfortable and a far better option than one of the various “fin” grips (e.g. Hera) that prevent the shooter from wrapping the thumb around the grip. (If you can’t wrap your thumb, it isn’t a pistol grip.)

The loss of the flash hider really isn’t a big deal. For one, most people only shoot during day light hours when flash hiding is a nonissue, and second compensators or brakes are still legal, if that’s what floats your boat (and as long as the manufacturer doesn’t describe that particular item as a flash hider). After all, how many people put flash hiders on their hunting rifles? Don’t ask me to explain it; this is California, and it doesn’t have to make sense.

    • ted December 29, 2017, 10:07 am

citing that people would not “put a flash hider on a hunting rifle ” is not the point. The point is that the really have no business banning something because of a benign attachment ! In reality, flash “hiders” do not really “hide ” anything. They may minimize a flash signature, but it is still visible. They are taking the phrase “reasonable regulation” to mean do whatever the state pleases in banning weapons that they dont like. What will be next ? OH, WAIT, let me answer that for you. Just look at the past history of Commifornia, then, look at more recent NY CITY history. They have to register ALL weapons. In past (1990s), they banned all military style “assault rifles. Lately, they limited ALL long arms to 10 rounds. This required you to even permanently pin tubular .22 rifles to 10 rounds or less, or give it up if you didnt prove you had it done ! Most recent is that ALL long arms are limited to 5 rounds. Also required .22 tubular magazines to be permanently pinned , OR GIVE IT UP ! This is the ultimate goal, keep finding more evil features until you can no longer own anything !

      • Stan December 29, 2017, 6:34 pm

Ted, your info is not correct. You said: “This required you to even permanently pin tubular .22 rifles to 10 rounds or less, or give it up if you didnt prove you had it done ! Most recent is that ALL long arms are limited to 5 rounds. Also required .22 tubular magazines to be permanently pinned , OR GIVE IT UP !”
From Giffords Law Center (an anti gun source by the way):
“Under California law, a “large capacity magazine” is defined as any ammunition feeding device with the capacity to accept more than ten rounds, but does not include any .22 caliber tube ammunition feeding device, any feeding device that has been permanently altered so that it cannot accommodate more than ten rounds, or any tubular magazine that is contained in a lever-action firearm.”
And I can’t find an existing (or pending) provision for a long gun 5 round limit.
So all my 10 round mags seem to ok.

    • Jaime January 2, 2018, 2:34 pm

The Second Amendment has nothing to do with hunting. What is the point of bringing up hunting? Flash hiders don’t hide the flash they just direct it so must of the flash is not in the shooters eyes.
