Rare Breed Firearms and Spike’s Tactical have teamed up to deliver the new Spartan series of AR-15-pattern rifles and receiver sets. The series features Spartan imagery and custom Cerakote finishes that makes each part a true work of art.

The series is available exclusively through Spike’s Tactical and it’s just the beginning. The eye-catching design took over a year to develop. It’s compatible with all standard lower components and all standard upper receivers.

“We’re excited to roll out this new three-dimensional Spartan lower receiver,” said Spike’s Tactical general manager Cole Leleux. “This design, and others to come, will turn any AR-15 into a one-of-a-kind weapon, which overthrows the status quo.”

“This is only the beginning and a first of many designs for gun owners to use to make an AR-15 all their own,” said Rare Breed president Lawrence DeMonico. “Designing and bringing this to life was extremely challenging, but we’re proud of the final result and we know that our customers will truly enjoy this new design.”

The team is offering several rifles and pistols in addition to stripped and complete receivers. They also have a finished builder set including a matching upper and lower receiver and handguard.

Pricing starts modestly for the mostly standard lower without the custom finish at $115. Complete guns with the custom receivers and finishes run between $2,175 and $2,825. These are premium rifles and pistols through and through with some of the best components on the market. The three-piece builder sets are approachable at $964, and the embellished lower is priced at $349.

Complete guns feature machined and laser-engraved 7075-T6 alloy receivers. The handguards are 6061-T6 with a free-floating design, quick-detach sling mounts and M-Lok slots for accessories.

Spike’s offers Rare Breed NFA-regulated short barreled rifles (SBRs) as well as California-compliant rifles, too. They have something for Spartans everywhere.

These aren’t the first artfully designed receivers on the market, but the stylized components, especially the hand-painted bronze, absolutely stand out from the crowd. If you’re thinking about building a rifle or pistol that looks as good on the wall as it does at the range, check out the Rare Breed Spartan series at Spike’s Tactical.

In many ways, the ideas described in the 2nd Amendment trace their origins back to Greek citizen-soldiers at the dawn of western civilization. There’s a long tradition of ornate firearms as works of art, and it’s fitting to use a fighting rifle for a work commemorating ancient warriors. Of course the people with conservative personalities will complain that it “isn’t practical enough”, but with around 450 million firearms already in private hands I’d say we can survive having a few ornate guns to mark this period of craftsmanship.

Really?? I just don’t get it at all. Function over form should be the rule with any firearm!

Fit and finish is excellent hand painted so a personal touch. A 10.5 inch DD lantac and Franklin trigger group. Mags fit nice got ambi stuff to work on it. Well thought out. Only issue I had was putting a Geissele Maritime bolt catch in. If there’s another one I’d like to know. Having some style wasn’t ever a bad thing. Bet if in Israel you were allowed to carry these like they do but full boat M16s they would. Function is just as good as any other but for the Style and hand touched finish which purists will have issue in what makes it unique and stand out. No part on this peice would be of detriment in fact has all the options. A very Fine peice of machinery as usual given to us by an American company that puts a little extra into something for the Owners to take out on a date that demands that special touch of FU. Otherwise enjoy your PSA

It reminds me of the AKM Chinese clone that was presented to Casper Weinberger by the Chinese government. A fully functional 14 carat gold plated rifle that would never be fired.

Barbie Dolls for Big Boys with to much money.

Ditto both comments above. This is the type of firearm that only pours gas on the fire started by the anti-gun crowd. Totally unnecessary. I wonder who the manufacturer thinks their market is for these pieces of “art”.

Do you really live your life trying not to make liberals angry?

“I was going to buy a new Truck but that will just pour gas on the fire started by the socialist crowd.”

No doubt thank you for saying that. Gun people are soooooooo soft today. No wonder our 2nd amendment is going away. If you have not made wise life decisions and can not afford a expensive rifle, then go buy Ruger 556 w Mag Pull furniture, and let the adults spend their money on what they want. I have Noveske, LWRCI, Larue, SCAR now I be adding a Rare Breed. Who knows maybe I will never shoot it 🤷 my choice as the person who can afford this piece of “art”.
Sorry petty comments like the ones above, bring out my arrogance like no other.

I’d put this so-called work of art in the same category as velvet paintings of Elvis, very tacky.
