Leupold comes out of the gate this year with a new family of scopes, the Mark 5 models. All of these models will feature 5X zoom capability, starting with a 5×25 and 3.16×16. These scopes were designed with shooter optic interaction as the focal point.

First up is a fast focus eyepiece, designed to make diopter adjustments a snap. Next, a very aggressive texture on the power ring, complete with a built-in throw lever. The throw lever is removable for those that want a snag-free system. The main tubes are 35mm, so don’t forget to order new rings with this system. This is the first I have ever heard of a 35mm, so hopefully, ring makers will catch up in short order. It does offer some new travel adjustments though. The 5×25 offers over 35 mils of internal adjustment capability.

Impressions & Pricing
The internal adjustment is a new system, billed as super precise. Each full rotation of the elevation knob moves 10 mils. There is a zero stop at the bottom, and each full rotation of the knob decreases the profile of the adjustment button. This offers both a tactile and visual indication of which elevation rotation you are on. The parallax adjustment knob has been increased in size as well, offering an easier purchase in gloves.
Available in illuminated or nonilluminated, retail price should be from about $1,800 — $2,700, model dependent. This is a lot of scope for the money, and sure to be a winner in the long range world.

Vortex Razor HD was 35mm so there’s already Spuhr mounts and others I’m sure
