The Browning A5 is a recoil-operated autoloading shotgun in Browning’s current lineup. It uses the characteristic A5 “humpback” receiver and is built as a multi-purpose autoloader for field use.
The A5 features Browning’s removable three-shot adaptor (plug) for compliance with migratory bird regulations; with the adaptor installed the magazine is limited to three shots. With the adaptor removed A5 3" models will hold four 2-3/4" shells (or three 3" shells) in the magazine, and A5 3-1/2" models will hold four 2-3/4" shells or three 3"/3-1/2" shells, per the owner’s manual.
Browning markets the A5 platform across hunting applications (waterfowl and upland) and field/sporting uses, with multiple builds and finishes offered to suit hunters and sport shooters.
