The A17 Sporter is a purpose-built semi-automatic rimfire platform designed around the .17 HMR cartridge. It features a gray wood-laminate sporter stock and a 22-inch button-rifled heavy barrel for improved accuracy and stability.
The action is a mechanically delayed-blowback design with a hard-chrome bolt and an oversized bolt handle, riding in a case-hardened receiver. Feeding is via a 10-round rotary detachable magazine and the rifle ships with Savage's user-adjustable AccuTrigger for a crisp, light pull.
