The Winchester Model 70 is a bolt-action sporting rifle first introduced in 1936 and long-branded as the “Rifleman’s Rifle.” Factory features documented by Winchester include a controlled-round-feed claw extractor, blade-type ejector, a three-position safety and a recessed target crown on the barrel. The receiver is forged steel and barrels are button-rifled and free-floating.
Model 70 rifles are built with a one-piece bottom metal and hinged floorplate for unloading and are fitted with Winchester’s M.O.A. trigger system. Many Model 70 configurations are delivered tapped for scope mounts; specific stocks, finishes, calibers and other options vary by variant and model year.
