The Impulse Mountain Hunter is a lightweight, backcountry-capable straight-pull rifle built on Savage's Impulse platform. This model (part 57896) ships with a Proof Research carbon-fiber-wrapped stainless steel barrel (24 in) fitted with an Omniport muzzle brake and 5/8"-24 threaded muzzle, an aluminum receiver with an integral 20-MOA Picatinny rail, and a polymer AccuStock with AccuFit adjustable length-of-pull and comb height.
Factory features include a user-adjustable AccuTrigger (1.5–4 lbs), a detachable box magazine (2-round capacity for the 300 WSM/part 57896 configuration), ambidextrous multi-position straight-pull bolt handle, and a two-position tang safety. The 300 WSM Mountain Hunter configuration has an overall length of 43.5 in and a listed weight of 7.4 lb.
