The Savage Impulse Mountain Hunter is a lightweight, backcountry-focused straight-pull rifle built around Savage’s Impulse action. This Mountain Hunter configuration is chambered in 28 Nosler and features a PROOF Research carbon-fiber-wrapped stainless steel barrel with an installed omniport muzzle brake and an aluminum receiver with an integral 1-piece 20 MOA Picatinny rail.
The rifle ships with Savage’s AccuStock and AccuFit systems and a user-adjustable AccuTrigger (1.5–4.0 lb), an ambidextrous removable multi-positional bolt handle, a two-position tang safety, and a detachable box magazine. The 28 Nosler Mountain Hunter model is specified with a 24 in barrel, an overall length of 43.5 in, and a listed empty weight of approximately 7.4 lb.
