The Kimber Mountain Ascent is an ultra-light bolt-action hunting rifle built around Kimber's short-action 84M. It uses a controlled-round-feed action with a Mauser-style claw extractor and a fluted bolt and barrel to reduce weight. The barreled action is stainless steel and ships with a removable muzzle brake on a threaded muzzle.
The rifle rides on a reinforced carbon-fiber/Kevlar lightweight stock with a soft-touch surface and is pillar bedded. It feeds from an internal 4-round magazine, has an adjustable single-stage trigger, and the action is drilled and tapped for scope mounts (no iron sights). The Mountain Ascent example in .308 Win with a 22-inch barrel is specified at approximately 4 lb 13 oz and an overall length near 41.25 inches.
