The Beretta 96A1 is a full-size .40 S&W semi-automatic pistol in the 90-series family. It features an integral MIL-STD 1913 accessory rail on the dustcover, an internal frame recoil buffer and a captive single-piece recoil spring assembly for improved durability and service life.
The 96A1 ships with an ambidextrous manual safety/decocker, dovetailed front sight and fixed rear sight. It is built on an aluminum-alloy frame with a corrosion-resistant Bruniton finish and textured black polymer grips.
