The new Short Reset Triggers (SRT) improve the basic P229's combat effectiveness by significantly speeding up follow up shots. The new E2 format guns are a redesign of the classic P229 to better fit the gun to a much wider variety of hand sizes. E2 P229's lop almost 1/2" from the critical circumference between the trigger face and the backstrap. This pistol has typical SIG type controls, including a US-style magazine release conventionally positioned behind the trigger. The pistol uses a standard Browning short, recoil operated, locked breech action with trouble free barrel lock-up at the top of the ejection port. This system is often emulated but seldom perfected to achieve the rock-solid barrel lock up and resulting accuracy that is the hall mark of all Sig pistols. Take down can be accomplished in under 10 seconds via a simple lever mounted above the trigger. Sig's unique frame mounted quick swipe decocker, redesigned for reduced reach on the E2 pistols, is mounted on the left side of the frame behind the trigger. The only other control is a slide catch mounted in its classic Sig rear position on the left of the frame. The P229 E2 uses Sig Sauer's conventional DA/SA trigger system. What this arrangement means is that the trigger is the only control you have to worry about when you need to focus on the immediate tactical situation and shoot. A black Nitron® finished stainless steel slide sits atop a matching black Sig hard alloy frame, resulting in a lightweight gun but one with an extremely durable finish. The grips have been redesigned for the E2 series, and consist of a one-piece, modular, screwless, wrap-around unit with an upgraded roughened texture, also in black. The 3 original trademarked 15-rd magazines are solidly built, and expertly finished in matte black.
