Russian Izhevsk Makarov Pistol

The Russian Makarov pistol Caliber 9x18 is acknowledged to be one of the best 20th century pistols in the world, along with Browning, Walter and Beretta. The Makarov was accepted by Russian forces and production started in 1951 until manufacturing stopped in the early 1990’s. All Russian Makarov manufacture was done at the Izhevsk Mechanical Factory in the city of Izhevsk, Russia. The Russian Makarov is still used inside Russian today. The Russian Makarov is still a favorite of many military forces world wide. The Russian Makarov manufactured at Izhevsk is currently the only pistol in the world that has successfully passed the so called “combined conditions” testing. The test consists of field trials in dirt, rain and snow. This is a genuine military Russian Makarov manufactured at the Izhevsk plant in 1977. All serial numbers are stamped matching. Bore is chromed lined and in like new condition. The pistol is in excellent mechanical condition showing very light use. Has a very small hard to read import mark. Only a small number of Russian military Makarov pistols were brought into the United States from Russia before their importation was banned by President Clinton in 1994. A few military Russian Makarov pistols were found mixed in with shipments of military surplus firearms from the former East Germany in the mid 1990’s. There is a very limited number of authentic military Russian Izhevsk Makarov pistols available on the U.S. market.
