HK introduced the P2000 in 2001 as an update for its successful USP Compact, widely used in LE. Retaining the core design of the USP Compact (the P2000 shares mags with the USP), HK brought the P2000 design up to modern standards of function and ergonomics--including mil-spec rails, ambi controls, and modular grips--while keeping it as accurate and simple as the parent USP. Inside, the P2000 features the USP's same reinforced stiff polymer frame, barrel, trigger, and nested recoil system that lets these guns easily handle potent cartridges like the .357 Sig and still reach an expected service life of 20K rounds. HK built only a few P2000's chambered in .357 Sig between 2005-12. The 357 Sig gives auto pistols the same power as the fabled .357 Mag revolver round. Very reliable because of its bottle necked case, the .357 is more controllable than its parent .40 S&W despite its power. This blend has made it popular with high-end LE agencies. Guns chambered for the .357, like this P2000, require only a drop-in barrel to convert easily to .40 S&W, popular because of plentiful low-cost ammo (both calibers share mags). Don't miss your chance to pick up this outstanding H&K variant in top-notch condition while you still can!
The HK P2000 is a reliable, safe, accurate “carry” pistol, incorporating the best features of modern combat pistol design. This P2000 is hammer-fired with a “Variant 3” DA/SA operating system. A double-action (DA) first shot, ~11.5 lbs pull weight, precedes single-action follow-on shots, ~ 4.5 lbs. A manual decocker mounted at the slide's rear safely lowers the hammer to ½ cock. There is no manual safety. The only other controls are ambi extended slide catches, and mag release tabs in the traditional HK position at the base of the trigger guard. The slide and barrel are blackened stainless, mounted over a reinforced, stiff polymer frame. The grip is well textured, and the rear strap can be swapped out for different hand sizes. This specimen has the “medium” grip insert mounted—others are available from HK. The bore has polygonal rifling designed for long life, high bullet velocity, and easy cleaning. The hammer is bobbed, and the trigger is a grooved target unit inside a generous recurved guard. 3-dot, bright-white, low-profile sights are dovetailed into the slide front and rear. The rear notch is fairly wide for rapid combat target acquisition. The tan, padded, synthetic-suede soft case is reinforced at the seams and zippered. The 12-rd mag is an HK factory item (for .357 or .40 S&W). Made to exacting specifications in Germany by Heckler & Koch GmbH, the workmanship on this gun is outstanding!
Built in 2006 ("AG" date code), this gun is in 99%+ NRA (Modern) Excellent condition. Its overall cleanliness and the near absence of residue on the breach face imply that this gun has been shot very little. Internally, the barrel and chamber are 100% mirror-bright, and virtually no finish wear shows on the mag body and slide rails. I doubt that this specimen has been fed more than 1 box of ammo. No blemishes, scratches, or wear are evident anywhere else on the gun except for very faint finish burnishing on the muzzle flange at the bearing point and wear along the upper edges of the breach block under the ejection port. This is typical of HK pistols due to the tight fit and resulting accuracy. The mag is essentially in 100% condition, the only exception being a pin-point finish blister on the left side (factory defect?). The soft case is in Excellent shape. Don't miss this opportunity to buy a top grade compact combat carry pistol!
