Seller Description
DWM 1920 Military Model P.08 chambered in 9 m/m with 4" barrel - from a post World War I Germany in defiance of the Treaty of Versailles. 1921 chamber date, all original, numbers matching. This was not a Police unit. Has no import markings and no sear or magazine safety re-work. Rust blue finish is 90% with silvering to high areas, straw remains around 70% on the small parts. Bore is mirror bright with deep lands and groves. Hold-open in place with all parts correctly numbered and matching. Three digit "a" suffix serial. Clean grips, no damage and few low points. Does not have a chip missing beneath safety. Original nickel with wood base magazine is in excellent condition, removes easily from frame. Second magazine is incorrect period, a late war fxo steel extruded mag. The metal is in very fine condition, front and back strap show no wear with no rust beneath grips. A very nice, one-hundred-year-old honest G.I. bring back. A collectible Military Model later issued to the German Army during WW II. WaffenAmt Code WaA4 - Otto Sindel, Berlin 1934. The new holster and take-down tool complete the P.08 rig. Mechanically perfect and functions perfectly with no damaged, missing or replaced parts. Excerpt from The Luger Pistol by Fred A. Datig "By 1920 the Germans had begun to manufacture or assemble (probably the latter), "as new," Lugers for the Army. These, too, were EXACTLY like the Model 1908/14 except that they were dated "1920," "1921," or "1922." To my recollection, I have never seen any with dates other than these three years. These Model 1920 Lugers were of very fine workmanship, for this period, and appeared to have been made entirely of new parts."
