Colt’s 1911 Competition is a Series 70 single-action 1911-style pistol built for practical/target shooting. The Competition government-size models use a 5" National Match barrel, Novak elevation-adjustable rear sight and a fiber-optic Novak front sight, and ship with Colt-branded blue G10 grip panels. The pistol features Colt’s Series 70 firing system and an extended single-side thumb safety with an upswept beavertail grip safety. The Competition lineup is fitted with competition ergonomics and Colt’s dual-spring recoil system for reduced felt recoil and faster follow-up shots. The Competition 9mm government model (two-tone blue-titanium frame with stainless slide) ships as a 9+1-capacity full-size 1911 ready for competitive/range use.
