Colt Challenger serial # 19578-C .22 LR 4 ½” bbl with an excellent bore. This pistol retains 98% of its original blue finish showing scattered minor dings on the left side of the front sight, just behind the rampant colt and very slight muzzle wear starting on the left side of the bbl. Basically a stripped down 2nd series woodsman 77,000 Challengers were manufactured between 1950 and 1955 supposedly to compete against the then new Ruger semi auto pistol. They are listed as having plastic grips, fixed sights no hold open and a bottom magazine release. This is mostly true with this example save it has a hold open latch on the left side of the pistol. A very interesting variant which should be of interest to the advanced Colt collector.
