Taylor's & Company 1858 Remington Conversion is a modern reproduction of the Remington Model 1858 built to accept a drop-in cartridge conversion cylinder. The design retains the original solid-frame Remington layout while incorporating a conversion ring and cartridge backplate so the revolver can be used with metallic .45 Colt/.45 Schofield cartridges as well as with traditional black-powder percussion cylinders. The model is a six-shot single-action revolver supplied with a conversion option and a fixed front blade / rear notch sighting system. Taylor's warns these replica conversions are intended for lead/black-powder style loads and advises against use of jacketed bullets or +P ammunition in the percussion-configured frames to avoid damage to the forcing cone and frame.
