The Smith & Wesson 442UC (Ultimate Carry) is a small-frame, five-shot J-frame revolver chambered in .38 Special designed for concealed carry. It uses an Airweight (aluminum alloy) frame, a 1.88 in snub barrel, and a double-action-only trigger for a compact, reliable carry package.
Factory features verified for the UC line include an XS tritium front sight pinned to the ramp with a dovetailed Novak-style rear U-notch, upgraded internals (titanium pins / endurance package), an enclosed ejector-rod shroud and beveled cylinder front edge for smoother holstering, and an approximate weight of 16 oz. The UC models are offered/regimented by major distributors as the Ultimate Carry variants with carry-optimized grips and sighting for defensive use.
