The Smith & Wesson Model 642 Airweight is a small J-frame, 5-round snub-nose revolver chambered for .38 Special +P. This Airweight configuration pairs an aluminum-alloy frame with a stainless-steel barrel and cylinder and uses a concealed (internal) hammer in a double-action-only (DAO) fire control.
Factory sights are an integral fixed front post with an integral grooved rear on the topstrap. The Model 642 Airweight is compact (overall length approximately 6.31in) and light (listed at about 15.0oz), designed and marketed for concealed carry and personal defense while remaining suitable for casual range use.
