From service as training devices with the the Federal West German Police comes this laser barrel assembly to fit a Sig Sauer P Series single stacked 9mm or .38 Super Pistol. We pulled these from Sig P6 Training pistols used by that agency some time in the late 1980s to late 1990s. Laser manufacturer was probably Meder Kommtech GmbH of Singen, Germany. Barrel and floor plate / switch housing manufacturer was Sig-Sauer GmbH of Eckenforde, Germany. Final assemblers and installers were die Waffenmeister von Bundespolizei, the Armorers of the Federal German Police. Photos of the grip frames show the installation process; for one thing, it required widening the front of the grip frame's butt area to accommodate the AA Battery, then set screws at various places as the photos show. Disassembler was Mr. Troy Frye of Robertson Trading Post. Barrel is a factory Sig Sauer 9mm caliber barrel for the old model P6 or P225 Pistol. The barrel will readily fit into a Sig P228 or P229 pistol as well. Note that the barrel has been demilled, or rendered inoperable, by two each vertical threaded holes, drilled completely through the hood or chamber section of the barrel's top and right sides. This process made the barrels unable to shoot, but employed set screws to hold the laser unit in the chamber. Laser unit is German brass and polymer housed, Wiring includes a German Meder MK6-5-G equipped transistor board. Power source is a Lithium AA Battery; batteries included are definitely run down and will not power this unit. On-Off switch housing is the bottom of a P6/P225 magazine machine cut and adapted to house the battery, the unit, and its wiring inside the pistol's magazine well. If someone wishes to install one of these in a Sig P228 or P229 pistol, it will probably require fashioning a similar housing out of one of those pistols' magazines. These sets came to us inside the very last of the Federal Police's P6 pistols that they began trading in 2007. Photos show some of the pistols' grip frames we took them out of. Since Sig Barrels are rather pricey, we estimate current replacement pricing on this unit to be upwards of $300.00.
