Seller Description
When this Ruger Blackhawk left the factory in 1979, its barrel and frame read .357 Magnum. Now, however, thanks to Mr. David Clements, the barrel marking reads CCG .41 Magnum on its left side; and Ruger Blackhawk on the left side of the main frame. Mr. David executed this one in his shop in Monroe County, Mississippi. Original manufacturer, of course, was Sturm Ruger of Southport, CT. Remanufacturer is Clements Custom Guns, now in Woodlawn, Virginia. Type is smaller frame Single Action only. Barrel is 4 5/8 inch blue steel with two stage, base and blade, serrated ramp front sight that peaks at 140 mm above the barrel. Rear sight is Micro type windage and elevation adjustable, black blade insert. Grip frame is probably the original alloy, with semi gloss black anodized finish. Main frame, .290 smooth face trigger, and .500 short spur hammer are all very attractively finished in a purplish hue salt type finish, like the old original Single Action Army revolvers. Grips are Ruger factory imitation Ivory, with red field in the logo plates. Weight empty is 39 1/4 ounces, with center of gravity at the front trigger guard junction. Caliber, of course, is .41 Remington Magnum, and rest assured that the cylinder chambers are all the exact same dimensions, forcing shoulder and all. Cylinder face to forcing cone gap is an extremely tight .015, but with no evidence of contact to the cylinder face. Mr. David’s work shines in this revolver’s timing. Whereas most Ruger Blackhawks, even brand new ones, do not time correctly on a slow cocking motion, this one does, on all six positions, even on a vveerrryyy ssllooowww pull. Single action trigger pull is an exceptionally crisp 3 1/2 pounds, no felt creep at all. There is no lateral play to the cylinder whatsoever, regardless of whether the trigger is depressed or relaxed. Surface detractions on this revolver are negligible, really only faint cylinder rotation marking. We do not believe it has been fired more than 30 or 40 times with .41 Magnum ammunition. Blast effect to the under side of the frame top strap directly above the barrel’s forcing cone is negligible, only a faint short impress that traverses less than half the width of the top strap. This Revolver is an excellent testament both to Ruger’s strength and to Mr. David Clements’s finesse. We’re offering it for only $ 489.00. Not transferable to civilian residents of Massachusetts.
