Most of us have noticed the change in Remington magazines for their Woodsmaster type rifles. The new Ones have polymer on them, perhaps an improvement; perhaps not. Here is a collection of old stock, but never used, magazines to fit Remington models 742, 760, 7400, 7600, Four, Six, and 750 chambered in the shorter calibers: 6mm Remington, .243 Winchester, .257 Roberts, 7mm-08 Remington, .284 Winchester, or even the venerable .308 Winchester. These came from a gun dealer’s estate in Texas where they have been sitting idly for at least ten years. All of them are in their original factory packages, with fraying and bending to the cardboard package backing, and some cracking to the bubble pack holders. Capacity is 4 rounds of any of the above mentioned calibers. Construction is blue steel, and note that these do not have a bolt release on their sides like the factory magazines for the semi-autos do. They work just fine in any 742 7400 series rifle so long as the caliber matches; only they won’t lock the bolt open after the last shot. These magazines Will Not accept, and Will Not Work in, long action 760 or 742 series Remingtons chambered in .270, .280, .30-06, or .35 Whelen. These are all 1980s and 1990s production factory Remington Magazines, Product code 26370. The .257 caliber marking is at their bottoms, as the photos show. They work fine in all the short action calibers.
