Harrington & Richardson (H&R 1871) began as a partnership between Nathan Harrington and William Augustus Richardson in 1871, building on the legacy of Frank Wesson, who had previously collaborated with Harrington. Initially, the company produced high-quality revolvers, rifles, and shotguns, with early innovations such as the top-break revolver and single-shot rifles that set standards for durability and performance. Over the years, H&R expanded its offerings to include pump-action and semi-automatic shotguns, as well as proprietary cartridges like the .32 H&R. The company played a significant role in American military history, manufacturing M1 rifles, M14 rifles, and M16A1 rifles, along with flare guns and training rifles for the USMC. Whil…

Seller Description
This attractive H&R model 900 revolver comes to us from a collection in its home territory of New England. From its AC serial number prefix, it was manufactured in 1966. Manufacturer was the old Harrington & Richardson Company in Worcester, Massachusetts. Type is traditional double and single action, roll out cylinder revolver. The rod stays attached to the cylinder and works the ejector, but the cylinder comes completely out to load and unload. Chambering is .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle calibers interchangeably with a cylinder capacity of 9 rounds. Construction is entirely steel metal, with one polymer buffer part internally, and original polymer grips. Barrel is 2 1/2 inch heavy one piece, pinned into the frame. Rifling is six groove right hand 1:16. Sights are pressed in blade front with frame integral fixed notch rear. Trigger is .300 smooth face, with long spur .340 hammer. Ignition is hammer nose firing pin, with transfer bar safety device that prevents the hammer from contacting the firing pin unless the trigger is fully depressed. Double action trigger pull is characteristically H&R stiff, 10 pound vicinity; the single action trigger pull, however, is a modest 4 pounds with a minimal amount of felt creep from the transfer bar mechanism. Grip frame is round butt type, with 1.15 inch lateral grip thickness. Overall length is 6 1/2 inches from the muzzle to the grip frame back strap, and 4 inches height from butt to top of frame. Weight empty is 20 1/2 ounces, with center of gravity at the rear cylinder face. Surface detractions on this specimen are moderate, principally finish freckling and toning to the never blued hammer. Grips are original factory issue polymer. We rate this Sidekick as Good, perhaps Very Good, 70 to 75 percent vicinity, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, cylinder chambers, and mechanism are all bright and clean. From the absence of any significant blast effect to the under side of the frame top strap, and from lack of wear and carbon on the cylinder face, we estimate this H&R has been fired fewer than 500 times. Note that the rear cylinder face is entirely smooth, with no evidence of dry firing. Lateral play to the cylinder is moderate, about 1mm by our estimate; and the cylinder times correctly in all nine positions on single and double action. Replacement pricing on any steel frame .22 Revolver these days is upwards of $400. We’re offering this attractive, serviceable LBJ Era H&R 900, however, for only $ 239.00. Not transferable to non C&R Civilians in Massachusetts.
