EAA’s Windicator® revolvers are some of the best to be had for under $400. We have sold them now for 50 years. Here is an early transitional HW357 snub whose Windicator name was only on its instruction manual, and not yet on the revolver itself. It comes to us from the collection of its exclusive civilian owner in Michigan. From its KC German Date Code, it was manufactured in 1992, only the Third Year of operation for EAA Corporation after the ancestor FIE dissolved in 1990. Manufacturer is Hermann Weihrauch Revolver GmbH of Mellrichstadt, Germany. Importer was European American Arms of Hialeah, FL, direct descendant of FIE. Current EAA stock number for this variant is 770130. Construction is steel sleeved two piece barrel, cylinder assembly, hammer, trigger, and internal parts with an alloy main frame and grip frame. Type is traditional double and single action revolver. Ignition is hammer against floating firing pin. All Arminius series revolvers have a transfer bar internal safety that prevents the hammer from contacting the firing pin unless the trigger is fully depressed. Barrel is 2 inch,two piece .675 diameter steel, with six groove right hand 18.75 rifling. Front Sight is alloy blade type, integral with its screw on, two post serrated top vent rib that mates to the frame top serrations. Rear sight is frame integral raised fixed notch. Trigger is .250 serrated face service width, with .240 checkered serration hammer. Cylinder is true swingout with serrated thumb latch and checkered surface steel ejection rod. Chambering is six rounds of .357 Remington Magnum and .38 Smith & Wesson Special ammunition, interchangeably. Grips are one piece rubber finger groove combat type, and will readily accommodate an HKS 10A speedloader. Finish is blued steel and semi gloss anodized on the alloy surfaces. Weight empty is 28 ounces with center of gravity at the trigger. Surface detractions on this specimen are minimal, really no more cylinder rotation marking than one sees on brand new Windicators across the country. We rate it as Excellent Condition, 90 to 95 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Double action trigger pull is smooth and consistent, and single action pull measures in the 5 pound vicinity. Cylinder times correctly with hammer travel to spare in all six positions on single and double action. With the trigger fully depressed, the cylinder shows no lateral play. Blast effect to the under side of the frame top strap directly above the barrel’s forcing cone is minimal. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. We estimate this HW38 has been fired fewer than 50 times. It comes in its original green box with Hialeah address instruction manual and statement of lifetime warranty, with disassembly wrench, with hang tag and protective wrapping.
