Specifications

This is an original Colt 1860 Army revolver chambered in .44 caliber black powder. A staple sidearm of Union forces during the American Civil War, it features an 8-inch round barrel, brass trigger guard, and one-piece walnut grips. The revolver shows a uniform patina and appears to be in solid mechanical condition, making it a desirable piece for collectors of antique military firearms.
Serial number 95489, made in 1863 with an 8” barrel. The action cocks and holds position, and the cylinder revolves correctly. The cylinder scene is faintly visible. The grips are in very good condition, and the inspection cartouche is visible on both sides. Civil War Colt 1860 Army revolvers were disassembled, refurbished, and reassembled for the Indian wars. Accordingly, this Colt correctly has mismatching serial numbers. Most of these were issued to Buffalo Soldiers in the 9th and 10th Cavalries and served well in places like Fort Davis, Texas. This is a classic example of a Colt 1860 Army.
