Restricted in some jurisdictions. The Kel-Tec P40’s debut in 1999 came at the high point of the Smith & Wesson 4000 series pistols, whose magazines were compatible with the P40’s. Here are Factory Smith & Wesson 11 round magazine outfitted with Kel-Tec’s #043 Grip Adapter, and furnished with two different floorplates. Magazine manufacturer was Smith & Wesson of Springfield, MA, and its subcontractor. Adapter manufacturer is Kel-Tec of Cocoa, FL. Magazine construction is one piece folded steel body, with steel music wire spring, steel inner plate, and S&W polymer 3rd Gen 4000 floorplate, with polymer cartridge follower. We are including an extra Mec-Gar flat steel original P11 floor plate, but its edges need to be ground off for it to fit. The polymer floorplate gives a slight amount of extra length that the steel flat floorplate does not, and hey, it’s free. Interchange is easily accomplished. Each magazine holds 11 round of .40 S&W caliber ammunition. Finish is stainless steel magazine body; black dura floorplate finish, blue cartridge follower, and black poly adapter. The magazines themselves served primarily range duty with law enforcement. We rate them as Very Good condition, note the carbon deposits on the followers that our photographer is too lazy to clean. Spring strength is excellent; these have been resting for a decade or so. The assembly fits admirably in a Kel-Tec P40 pistol; with its adapter removed, they will work in any 4000 series Smith & Wesson pistols as well. No one, to our knowledge, offers this combination.
