ZEV Technologies is rolling out its Core Duty Rifle for 2021. A premium AR chambered for 5.56 NATO, the Core is an all-purpose, duty-ready rifle with plenty of quality components that make up what ZEV calls their Performance DNA.

“When we set out to design the new Duty Rifle, we knew it had to absolutely be focused on accuracy and reliability,” said ZEV. “From the 7LB weight to the enhanced Mil-Spec trigger, this rifle is packed with end-user driven features.”

Built on MIL-SPEC forged alloy upper and lower receivers, the Core Duty Rifle comes with a mid-length 16-inch Chromalloy barrel featuring 5R rifling, a Melonite QPQ finish and a low-profile gas block. It has a ZEV compensating flash hider and a full-length free-floating 14-5/8-inch Wedge Lock M-Lok handguard.

The Wedge Lock handguard system is extremely tough and dead simple. The handguard has a two-piece wedge that tightens down onto the stainless steel barrel nut using a single screw, and can be easily removed and reinstalled for maintenance if necessary.

Inside the rifle is a chrome-lined bolt carrier group with a manganese phosphate finish, an Enhanced Duty MIL-SPEC trigger, polished for a clean break and smooth action and a Radian Weapons Talon ambidextrous selector lever.

Rounding out the rifle is a carbine buffer assembly with a Magpul MOE SL stock and a Magpul MOE grip with storage compartment. The Core Duty Rifle comes standard with a 30-round Magpul PMag.

The rifle is optics-ready for use with whatever optics and iron sights the user sees fit. The Core Duty Rifle has a suggested price of $1,499, which is in-line with other premium ZEV Tech products.

It can be difficult to find a lot of products in today’s market, and a lot of rifles are getting pushed out the door with available parts at hand. But the ZEV Core Duty rifle, even as a do-all gun, ticks all the boxes.

Very original. Another $1500 AR 15 that doesn’t even come with back up iron sights but yet is ” packed with end-user driven features” LOL.
