Real Avid produces affordable and high-quality tools for gun cleaning and maintenance, including a myriad of tools for disassembly and assembly.

This year they brought some new tools to SHOT Show 2025 and the ones that caught my eye featured their new X3 Driver.

This driver will come in many new kits that will be available soon, but the ones that caught my attention were in torque sets.

What Is It?

Two tool kits are on display on a wooden, butcher block table. — The new X3 Driver Kits from Real Avid are incredibly useful to have at the gun range or at home. They come in both fixed or adjustable torque adapter sets that vary in price.

A small, versatile torque wrench set is almost invaluable when at the gun range, or home. The new X3 Driver functions as a T-handle, ratchet, and driver all-in-one. On top of this, the X3 comes in a few new Smart-TORQ kits.

The two kits that caught my attention at SHOT Show came in two different options: individual preset torque adapters or an adjustable torque adapter. Both the preset and adjustable kits have torque values that range from 15-65 in-lb.

The individual, preset torque adapters are incredibly simple and fast to use. All you need to do is grab the appropriate torque adapter (if you need 15 in-lb of torque, grab the 15 in-lb labeled torque adapter).

Unlike some torque limiters, you do not need to watch a collar for alignment while torquing a bolt, just keep turning until the limiter clicks and you’ve reached the desired torque.

In a different, but similar fashion with the adjustable torque limiter, you can use the X3 ratchet to turn the set torque value up or down to the desired level. Then simply turn the limiter until it clicks.

The cool thing about this adjustable torque limiter is the fact that you don’t need to reset it to zero between uses.

Pricing and Availability

The price on the adjustable torque set at $99 while the preset torque kit runs a bit higher at $149. You can also buy the X3 Driver in tool sets without torque limiters. These sets range in 13-57 piece kits, priced accordingly between $29 – $49.

I find the most utility in the torque limiter sets. But the X3 driver alone would be a useful tool on the range for a much lower cost.

I’m looking forward to getting my hands on the adjustable torque set. Although, I’ll have to wait because none of these products are shipping until Q2 this year. Keep your eyes peeled for when they hit the shelves!
