Overview
One of the coolest accessories for the AR-15 has been the Can Cannon from X Products. This launcher was originally introduced in 2015 and began immediately to have an enthusiastic following. It utilizes a complete upper that attaches to any standard AR-15 lower. By firing blanks it allows you to launch a variety of fun projectiles around 100 yards. It can launch full cans of soda pop, parachutes with items attached, small grappling hooks and tennis balls. This was so much fun that the BATFE decided to put a halt to it. They decided that it was, in fact, a short-barreled rifle. The X Products team quickly went to work to redesign their product to be in compliance with the BATFE. it is once again available as a non-gun.

Impression
This year the 2017 Shotshow they introduced their latest version of the Can Cannon in the XAC-CAN308. It is designed to attach to 7.62 AR rifles and uses .308 blanks. The fact of the matter is the .223 just had some limitations in terms of its ability to launch heavier items and to achieve greater distances. With the additional pressure provided by the .308 blanks they have a complete new line of accessories that adds a level of fun and functionality to the concept.
They showed me the new grappling hook, and a host of other cool toys that are now capable of being launched. They are even launching soda cans filled with concrete well over 150 yards! The only drawback seems to be that there is so much pressure that a standard soda can tends to explode, launching a sticky syrup out of the tube. However, it is now capable of launching a line attached to their grappling hook or blunt projectile that same 150 yards.
The cancan and uses their proprietary blanks which can be purchased in a pack of 50/ $30. Expect to see it online and at your dealer in March 2017 for $499.
