White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is renewing the Biden administration’s call to ban so-called “assault weapons” and “high-capacity magazines.”
Jean-Pierre made her case in a Tuesday statement on Whitehouse.gov.
“Over the last day and a half, more families across our country have been scarred by the devastating impacts of gun violence in America, including reports of a shooter today targeting two law enforcement officers from a rooftop in Newark, New Jersey. Last night in Houston, award-winning recording artist Kirsnick Khari Ball, also known as Takeoff, lost his life at 28 years old, and two others were injured,” she said.
“In Chicago, 14 were injured by gunfire – including three children – and one injured by a vehicle as she tried to flee last night. In Kansas City, six were injured and a teenager was killed at a Halloween party. These are only the shootings that made national headlines,” Jean-Pierre continued.
“Enough is enough. Gun violence in this country is an epidemic that will not end with thoughts and prayers alone. President Biden will continue to do everything in his power to reduce gun violence, including by calling on Congress to increase community violence intervention funding, ensure universal background checks, and send legislation to his desk banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. It’s past time we turn our pain into purpose,” she concluded.

Banning modern sporting rifles would have a negligible effect on crime rates, particularly gun homicides.
It’s well documented that “personal weapons,” aka hands, fists, and feet kill more people each year in this country than all rifles combined (or rifles as an entire category), which of course includes the unfairly maligned AR-15.
Per FBI data, there were 455 rifle homicides in 2020 compared to 662 deaths from “personal weapons” in the context of the 17,813 reported homicides.
While there is a category of gun homicides where the type of firearm is not recorded, which means the number of rifle homicides may indeed be slightly higher, the fact remains that rifles are used in a low percentage of annual homicides, and in less than 3 percent of total homicides in 2020.
Given this data, it’s hard to see how even a total, confiscatory ban on ARs would make a difference, especially when one also considers that even most mass killers use handguns to perpetrate their attacks.
By the numbers, handguns were involved in 77 percent of mass shootings between 1982 and May 2022, according to statista.com.
The Biden administration’s agenda, therefore, has nothing to do with stopping criminals and everything to do with disarming law-abiding citizens.
These proposed liberal gun bans have nothing to do with crime or safety. The liberals agenda is to end our republic and create an authoritarian state. This cannot be done without disarming the citizens first.
Just look at the programs and laws the Biden administration is pushing non strengthen our nation, all of them force more people to depend on the federal government to live, or intice people to be loyal because of the handouts, like eliminating student loan debt. Everything points to an authoritarian state.

Just look at Canada, it looks like some of the provinces are not willing to go along with Trudeau’s gun ban and confiscation law and Trudeau’s approval rating is dropping. This is a good time for the left to look north, cause if it won’t work there it won’t work here.

The Progressive-Socialist totalitarians, who have been trying mightily to cement their grip on power in perpetuity, are terrified that the people will reach a break-point as their destructive policies proceed. And what better weapon to have at your disposal than a “weapon of war” to start a rebellion, they think. Therefor, those guns, and any remotely like them, must be banned. They’ll use the phony guise of “public safety” as a smokescreen to hide their Real reason. Oh, and since the 2nd A. guarantees the right to possess such guns, it must go too! Every time a politician or its mouthpiece says assault rifles need to be banned they should be asked to explain exactly what an assault rifle is-and don’t let them get away with descriptions like “a weapon of war” (what’s a weapon of war, then?). Oh, I am sorry. I thought we were worried about crime. I thought we wanted to make America a safer place. Gun safety should be a part of that conversation. I mean right now, concerned citizens are harassing and intimidating voters at drop boxes with assault weapons, or as you might know them, modern assaulting rifles. Guns are to protect our Republic from enemies both foreign and DOMESTIC! Also they are used to defend our families, friends, and ourselves from those in our society that choose to be criminals.

Assault weapon has a dictionary definition which does extend to and include semi-automaric rifles like AR-15s whereas MSR does not.
