ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – November 1, 2024 – SK Guns®, the Nation’s only series-driven, limited-edition manufacturer of custom firearms, is proud to announce its Saints series now includes the “Santa Muerte.” The release coincides with the “Day of the Dead” celebration in Latin American culture.

SK Guns celebrates the folk saint of Santa Muerte, regarded in Latin American and Mexican Catholicism as a protector of the deceased and the personification of death. Santa Muerte is a limited-edition production run of only 500 Full-Size Government Model Colt 1911 chambered in 38 Super. Each pistol will include a special engraved edition number.

Santa Muerte has surged in popularity and taken on an increasingly prominent role in the Day of the Dead festivities, which are held on the first and second days of November. Associated with healing, protection and financial well-being, Santa Muerte has reportedly performed miracles for those in need. She also assures a path to the afterlife, reaping the souls of the deceased.

Santa Muerte is trusted to watch over the bones of the dead and preside over the ancient festivals of the dead. These festivals evolved from Aztec traditions into the modern Day of the Dead after the synthesis with Spanish traditions, as she now presides over the contemporary festival as well. She is known as the “Lady of the Dead,” due to the belief that she was born, and then sacrificed, as an infant.

“Santa Muerte is a significant addition to our Saints by the Roots series,” said Simon Khiabani, owner and founder of SK Guns. “We are proud to honor the rich cultural heritage and traditions associated with the Day of the Dead by introducing this iconic figure to our custom firearms collection.”

The slide features toned illustrations of roses that believers of Santa Muerte hold particularly sacred. Roses are holy to them because they are associated with the Lady of Guadalupe and because, although beautiful and feminine, they have sharp thorns and will draw blood.

Other objects associated with Santa Muerte include scales, an hourglass, an owl and an oil lamp. The scales allude to equity, justice and impartiality, as well as divine will. This symbolic, limited-edition Colt is made complete with Blood Grips made from Kirinte® with the iconic Rampant Colt.

The new firearm can be purchased here. MSRP begins at $2750.
