Fostech AR’s Going Ultra-Lite With New Materials – Epic Shoot 2021

Fostech hasn’t been idly waiting around for the Covid pandemic to go away, they’ve worked up an Aluminum-Magnesium alloy that makes their receivers and handguards about 30% lighter than previous aluminum units. These flyweight parts make the entire AR feel remarkably light. The Stealth billet upper and lower receivers utilize this new alloy making an extremely lightweight billet rifle.

Their new material allows them to save 30% on weight over aluminum.

But for the shooter who prefers a more traditional rifle the Flight utilizes the new alloy and is also forged for additional strength, making it stronger than a 6061 unit as well as 30% lighter. I swear the short handguard I handled made of the new alloy felt like it weighed about the same as a business card, ok maybe that’s a little exaggerated.
