Diamondback recently announced the release of the Sidekick, which is their interchangeable 22LR/22Mag revolver. The Sidekick blends modern features with a timeless cowboy style.
Including both a 9 round 22LR and 22Mag cylinder, users can choose a cartridge best suited to their needs. From cheap practice ammo to slinging 22Mag, the Sidekick has you covered.
One big feature to note is Diamondback’s recessed cylinder. This allows for dry fire without worrying about the firing pin getting beat up or wearing out the cylinder. Also included is a safety transfer bar so you can safely load all 9 rounds without leaving an empty chamber.
The Sidekick has a 3-pound single-action trigger pull, and a 14-pound double-action trigger pull. The trigger performs well, and the form is functional and classic. While including checkered polymer grip panels, Diamondback also has aftermarket wood grips available and the Sidekick is also compatible with Ruger grips.
Coming in at 32.5 ounces with a 1:16 twist for a 4.5-inch barrel, the Sidekick blends functional size with weight to provide an accurate small package. Featuring a black Cerakote finish, this revolver should stand up well against corrosion from harsh environments. It performed flawlessly for the few rounds we were able to put through it, and the swing-out cylinder release and ejection rod made for quick work of reloads.
For those who would like to learn more, you can find the Sidekick on Diamondback’s website here, or continue to stay tuned for a full review from GunsAmerica. The MSRP is currently listed at $320, and these revolvers should be available soon.

Seems to be the usual vapor wear. Can’t find in stock anywhere. Too bad this happens with about all the manufactures for new models.
I agree looks like the High Standard with swing out cylinder and double action. Was it the Double Nine ? How about real wood grips . Not a fan of Cerakote finish . looks cheap
Already I would love to see a Sheriffs’ model w/ 3.5 ” barrel and birds head Grip.
Sounds like a remake of the Colt Frontier Model that I used to learn the art of the pistol 60+ years ago. It still occupies a cherished spot in my safe, with box, instructions and extra cylinder in its little bag
Looks like the old High Standard westerners; the originals are now worn out or priced outrageously, as with their sibling Sentinel and Camp gun. Good Show! Dangit, now’m gonna hafta get me some…
