Capitol Police officers detected ammunition on the X-ray scanner and, after searching his bag, found four ammunition magazines and 11 rounds of ammunition, reports Fox News Digital.

Hopkins claimed he forgot the ammunition was in his bag but now faces charges for unlawful possession of ammunition, including a charge related to possessing a high-capacity magazine.

In response, Rep. Morelle’s Chief of Staff, Jo Stiles, issued a statement confirming that Hopkins is no longer employed by the office.

Meanwhile, Capitol Police continue their investigation into the incident.

Politics aside, do you believe the punishment fits the crime?

Really! Here in Colorado a democrap had a pistol fall out of his bag on the Congressional floor. And nothing was done. This POS helped push thru gun control for others that he thought didn’t include him. He was recalled and thrown out of office. Even Bloomberg’s money didn’t save him or his cohort.

The law itself is a Constitutional violation and should be considered null and void.

Absolutely stupid that this man lost his job over something so trivial. He obviously forgot it was in there and as far as ghe likely regular “high” capacity magazine I absolutely don’t believe in enforcing any law or policy that limits a persons magazine capacity to anything lower than a world military including ours employs as if we ever did need to take up arms to defend our freedoms from any threat foreign or domestic we as Americans should be allowed to at the very least have available to us the same weapons that could and would be used against us in such an event!!!!! The punishment absolutely does not fit the crime and we as Americans shouldn’t stand for this!!!

HE was a democrat from NY, and they were the ones that pushed to have those laws ! SO, HE got bit by his own party BS ! I had to abide by those BS laws when i still lived in NY State , and had to move DOZENS of my legally owned magazines to my southern home because they became misdemeanor charges in NY for each one..

I don’t know this guy at all nor have I ever heard his name before. He might be a great guy and a gun enthusiasts that just made a mistake. However, in this current political climate I would want some questions answered and someone taking a hard look at anyone caught doing the same. Questions like: does the person get excitable or triggered over politics. Could the person have brought in a gun earlier in pieces. I would be looking hard at anyone with the thought they may have a plan to harm political opposition or just some wacko that wants to make a name for them selves. Mentally disturbed people can and often do work for the government. After two assassination attempts on Pesident Trump I wouldn’t let anyone, senator, congressman, journalist, etc., near the President without shaking them down.

Seems a bit harsh but when a team member does something that is blatantly contrary to team policy it’s not surprising they would over react.
Someone I know well accidentally showed up at the airport with a loaded magazine in their carry on that was forgotten about from a previous trip and all TSA did was confiscate it and throw it away. It wasn’t regarded as a conspiracy and there was no firearm involved. This guy probably would have noticed 4 mags while packing but overlooked a small 380 mag that was tangled up with his socks.

Being ‘black and a liberal’ means the whole book will be thrown at him plus he gets deported.
