Cops ‘treat us so nasty,’ says Daughter after LEO Shot Dad Armed w/ Butter Knife

in News

On October 28, Jacksonville officers responded to a chaotic scene on Grothe Street, where an attempted carjacking quickly escalated.

Officers J. Rose and J. Montgomery, with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, arrived on the scene shortly after 8:30 p.m. to assist a carjacking victim. While Officer Rose gathered information, bystanders alerted him to a man nearby wielding a knife.

The officers quickly spotted the suspect, later identified as 54-year-old Djuan Jackson, actively assaulting another man.

Witnesses reported that Jackson attempted to stab the man in the head, showing clear intent to cause serious harm. Both officers commanded Jackson to drop the knife, but when he refused to comply, they discharged their weapons.

Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jackson, recently released from a five-year prison sentence in June, had a long criminal history, including convictions for aggravated assault, drug sales, and domestic battery.

Witnesses reported that, before targeting the victim, Jackson had approached the carjacking victim’s family, displayed aggression toward a juvenile, and then attempted to attack an adult.

Detectives at the scene found a metal butter knife, believed to be the weapon Jackson used in the attack.

Many will argue that the officers’ swift actions stopped a dangerous situation from escalating further, preventing potential harm to others in the area.

However, Jackson’s daughter does not see it that way. In an interview with local news affiliate News4Jax she was highly critical of the LEO’s actions at the scene.

“If you‘re gonna shoot him, at least shoot him once. I mean, like, even if he doesn’t follow command. Y’all couldn’t follow other protocols before shooting, but if you’re gonna shoot somebody, don’t shoot five times,” she said, wishing to remain anonymous.

She believes alternative methods, such as using a Taser or other non-lethal measures, could have been employed to de-escalate the situation.

“Anything besides shooting and killing somebody, you know? That’s what I wish they had done,” she stated. “I mean, nobody wants to get that call saying that their father is gone,” she said.

In addition to mourning her father’s loss, Jackson’s daughter hopes that the incident leads to a reassessment of JSO’s protocols, especially in cases involving individuals with possible mental health issues.

She revealed that her father had struggled with such challenges, further deepening her concerns about the outcome.

“Just better protocols, getting our people some help, especially, especially my race, I just feel like they treat us so nasty,“ the daughter said. ”I just think it’s just so unfair. We already go through enough as a race, so hopefully that’ll change in the future, and we can get some kind of structure in the city for all races and all people.”

As the State Attorney’s Office and JSO conduct their reviews of the incident, Jackson’s daughter hopes for accountability and improvements in how officers respond to similar calls in the future.

Given the available facts, what’s your reading of the situation?

What ever happened to the good old night stick. Cops don’t carry them any more. Back in the good old days we would just smack a guy like that in the head a few times. They always stop. They end up in the hospital with a cracked head but they don’t die.

  • Bob W November 12, 2024, 11:47 am

Holy cow if she thinks cops treat her people nasty now, wait until the king takes his throne on January 20th. She ain’t seen nothing yet.

  • Frank November 11, 2024, 7:58 pm

Hey, ‘MP” Nice try on running out the “reply” option. You clearly aren’t an LEO, nor never have been. I was, in a profession where EVERYONE I contacted was armed in a far superior manner to me, yet I never had to discharge my firearm at anyone. You obviously don’t have a clue, so go back home and play with your tinker toys… or yourself. You have nothing pertinent to offer here.

  • Frank November 11, 2024, 8:49 am

… and YOU know this based on how many years working the streets as a cop?

  • Danny Phillips November 10, 2024, 6:44 pm

Normally I call them piglets as I feel that is the proper term for these murderers.

    • Frank November 11, 2024, 8:32 am

An LEO (or any law-abiding citizen) is justified in the application of force, up to and including deadly force, to prevent death and/or serious bodily harm to themselves or another. That ain’t murder, bucko!

  • LJ November 10, 2024, 2:02 pm

FYI liberal media and BLM hood rats – a butter knife will kill you just as dead as a butcher knife – or any knife – for that matter. So will that fake plastic gun.

If you won’t follow the police commands and deadly force is deployed, even if it’s because you’re armed with a “butter knife”, they will shoot to kill, not shoot to knock the weapon out of your hand. You’ve been watching too much bullshit on TV if that’s the way you think it works. And who gives a rats ass if your dad had mental problems? That doesn’t give you carte blanche to do as you please. ALL BLM hood-rats have mental problems who refuse to live by society’s rules. Let this situation, and many others like it with the same outcome, be a lesson to you and the rest of your BLM hood-rat friends, crime doesn’t pay. And there’s absolutely ZERO sympathy for you if you insist on not abiding by societies rules and regulations and you get prematurely removed from the gene-pool. GOOD RIDDANCE!

    • Danny Phillips November 10, 2024, 6:49 pm

They shoot before they have determined whether a life is at stake, that’s the problem. They’re too eager to shoot and have qualified immunity to back them up. Mental illness should be taken into account in all aspects of law enforcement. People with mental illness will not follow police commands so less lethal uses of force should be used instead.

      • LJ November 10, 2024, 7:27 pm

No … liberal race-card-playing idiots like yourself are the problem. Police don’t have the luxury to determine whether or not some knucklehead with a knife is a registered nutcase or not and intends to do another human being harm. And your argument that mentally ill people will not follow commands, therefore less lethal force should be used against them is exactly what BLM liberals like yourself expect and believe the cops should do. Watch the video GA posted on this website a week or so ago if you want to see what a nutcase with a knife can do. “Bodycam: Woman Slashes Cop in Face w/ Knife”.

      • AK November 11, 2024, 10:46 am

“Excuse me Sir, are you mentally ill?” (lunges at officer with knife)
And that heartfelt rant of course would not apply if the Jordan Neely-type was filleting you with a butter knife.

      • Societal realist November 13, 2024, 7:57 am

Seriously? You don’t think the life of the guy BEING STABBED IN HEAD was at stake?!

As someone else mentioned, a previous article on this site showed 2 different forms of “less than leathal” being completely ineffective against 1 of your “mentally unstable” persons. Neither bean bag rounds, nor your “magic taser” did anything to stop that guy.

Your comment is even more ridiculous than the daughter’s.

  • Kane November 8, 2024, 6:32 pm

So if the other guy brought a fork, how should LE prioritize who to shoot first?

  • Danny Phillips November 8, 2024, 5:33 pm

Cops are trained to do a mag dump. In this situation, a taser would have probably been effective. Piggy’s need citizen oversight and Qualified Immunity needs to be repealed. Police are killing too many people these days and getting away with it. Both Sheriff’s deputies need to be put on desk duty.

    • KC Jailer November 9, 2024, 4:05 pm

Got it. Ever use a taser? It’s not magic. Perps need oversight, and it sounds like Pops finally got it.

    • Rural Jeff November 10, 2024, 10:43 am

“Piggy’s” really? Ridiculously childish word choice, and you know, if you are going to go so far as to call cops “piggy’s”, at least learn how to use the word… It is piggies. The plural of piggy is piggies, piggy’s would be used to as a possessive term. For instance: The police did not like having to shoot the perp because he refused to follow the older piggy’s orders to drop a dangerous weapon. Anyway, you obviously have never been stabbed with a butter knife, I wouldn’t recommend it.

      • Danny Phillips November 10, 2024, 6:51 pm

Normally I call them piglets as I feel that is the proper term for these murderers.

        • Frank November 11, 2024, 8:34 am

Spoken like a true dumbass, who has ZERO knowledge and/or experience in the real world.

    • snugs November 10, 2024, 11:45 am

And idiots like YOU need to STFU as you have no clue what you’re talkin about, so when some hoodrat is attacking YOU with a butter knife the cops should just let him right or use a “taser” that just might hit you instead? Clueless fool!!!

      • Danny Phillips November 10, 2024, 6:53 pm

I live in a constitutional carry state and am always armed so I’m not worried about being attacked by some hoodrat. You sound like a clueless fool!!!

    • LJ November 10, 2024, 2:06 pm

      See what I wrote above … idiot🙄

    • Clayton Blackwell November 10, 2024, 3:26 pm

No, cops are trained to shoot until the threat has stopped, whether it takes 1 or 15. Citizen oversight is a joke unless that oversight goes through a training academy and at minimum monthly ride alongs. Otherwise they don’t generally understand the training, protocol, authority or the law, and your comments prove just that. For instance, so many people bark about removing qualified immunity likes its a get off free card, and don’t even know what that actually means. To get qualified immunity, you have to be operating within the scope of well established law and the policies of the agency you work for. That means, if they are just cowboying it up at there, they won’t get qualified immunity, it’s not automatic. Also, take a look at the actual numbers instead of your feelings when you see these events. According to the National Bureau of statistics, over the last 8 years police have avearged killing 1044 people a year, while averaging contacts with 54.5 million people a year. That is someone dying in 0.0019 of contacts. Considering police by definition are dealing with and trying to stop criminals from harming the public, that’s a pretty damn low number.

      • Dano November 13, 2024, 10:46 am

“Training” is part of the problem.

  • Steven Parker November 8, 2024, 4:00 pm

He had a knife and was trying to use it. The fact that it was a butter knife doesn’t matter, it was a knife. He was told to drop it and didn’t . Sorry but it is over. It seems like everyone has mental problems. Trying to stab someone with a knife is a mental problem .

    • Tim November 9, 2024, 5:05 pm

A lifetime ago after I got out of the military I did some prison work. I had a guy stabbed with a turkey leg. I’ve seen a whole lot of stabbings but I never seen anyone bleed out any faster than he did from that turkey leg. They cut the end on an angle. It punched big old round holes through that guy.

      • Steven Parker November 9, 2024, 5:32 pm

You fight with what you have. 38 years in the military Mostly medevac. I was the first one in at the riot at NM state pin. Yeah they used blow torches.

  • Brian November 8, 2024, 3:19 pm

It was a good shoot, you fire to put the threat down, not to warn, and cops are generally assholes and oftentimes profile based on race (as proven in multiple studies).

  • paul I'll call you what I want/1st Amendment November 8, 2024, 2:42 pm

threat stopped, no possibility of a future threat…….i say good job!
this is more about winning the ghetto lotto

  • PilotBill November 8, 2024, 2:21 pm

For those of you commenting on taking a longtime criminal off the streets – I understand your sentiment. However, past records have nothing to do with present crisis prevention. Her dad didn’t deserve to be killed because of his past, he was neutralized as a threat because of the immediate and present circumstances he created. What needed to be done was done. No more and no less. I’m sure she is hurting and has the right to grieve and the officers have the right to protect others and themselves. Both rights should be protected. The officers appear to have responded correctly and she should be able to be sad even if her blame is misplaced.

Have we lost all empathy and respect? Much of these comments are exactly why we as gun owners, police supporters, defenders of freedom, and 2A activists are much maligned. NO ONE should desire the death of another, nor pursue it, but rather reluctantly accept it only as an unwanted, hurtful, but at times necessary consequence of keeping civilizations civil.

    • John Henning November 11, 2024, 10:31 am

Well said. First reasonable response I’ve seen.

  • Bob November 8, 2024, 1:30 pm

    Stupid blue-gum pavement apes.

  • RV November 8, 2024, 1:24 pm

The fact that the knife was a butter knife is irrelevant. A ball point pen can be used as a deadly weapon to kill someone. Jackson was actively stabbing another citizen, so the officers have a duty protect Jackson’s victim by stopping him.
As far as the daughter’s statement of only firing once, police are trained to keep firing until the threat has been stopped. Tasers are not an option because Jackson made this a lethal force situation.

  • Beobear November 8, 2024, 1:21 pm

Perhaps she thought that when the officers began their shift they should get together to choreograph exactly how many times to shoot a man with a knife along with choreographing the almost infinite number of other potentially deadly scenarios where lethal force is necessary. Those lazy cops!! Instead, how about she pop her her father was a violent POS who, according to his lengthy record, has been a scourge on society most of his life and accept that she is the delusional one in this story? Like that would happen. He FA’d and FO.

  • RC November 8, 2024, 12:53 pm

Amazes me how these people always play the victim.

  • Mike in a Truck November 8, 2024, 12:11 pm

Begin acting and behaving like civil human beings instead of ill raised savages and maybe you won’t end up shot.

    • Brian November 8, 2024, 3:22 pm

At face value that’s not a legal justification for a lawful shoot. 2A advocates should do better. Yes, the guy did not listen to commands, and it appears to be a lawful shoot. However, your comment does no good in advocating for the shoot being lawful. You sound like someone who’s predisposed to shoot first based on stereotypes.

      • Mike in a Truck November 8, 2024, 4:01 pm

You don’t know me and you don’t know squat about what I’m predisposed too. Like I give a flip about your evaluation. When these animals destroy someone in your family come back and tell us your lofty opinion.

        • PilotBill November 8, 2024, 6:28 pm

Mike, please define animals. I do agree that “animal” is an acceptable description depending on how you’re using it. Turning their backs on morality, truth, common sense, and civility makes folks animals not matter the variety. I’m sorry for your loss if you’re referring to a personal experience.

        • Brian November 8, 2024, 8:24 pm

Nope, I don’t know you, but you clearly care about what others think given your reply. Grow a thicker skin, kid; if you’re going to post a dumb comment, don’t be surprised when people call you out for it.

  • ralph November 8, 2024, 12:01 pm

    🥹🥲😢😭😿

  • ralph November 8, 2024, 11:53 am

    PHUCK Jackson’s daughter!!

  • Godfrey Daniel November 8, 2024, 10:49 am

The cops get demonized by one side or the other in a situation like this. They’re damned if they shoot and damned if they don’t. To me they did what had to be done to potentially save one man @ the expense of the other w/ a weapon.

  • John November 8, 2024, 10:12 am

She is right. Nobody wants to receive the call that their father is gone. The man her dad was trying to stab in the head probably has a daughter that did not want to hear it too, and she won’t have to because the police stopped it from happening. Actions always have consequences. It sucks that she lost her father, but that is the consequence for his actions, not the police.

  • Robert November 8, 2024, 9:57 am

Funny how if you don’t attack someone with any kind of knife and you comply with the officer’s request 100% of the time you won’t be shot once let alone 5 times. Maybe the problem isn’t the police but criminals who think they should be able freely terrorize others. Daughter is a dingleberry.

  • mp November 8, 2024, 9:39 am

Five shots while the guy was laying on his back and no one was near him. The ‘fill him full of lead’ mentality needs to be stopped.

    • mp November 8, 2024, 9:40 am

No problem with the first one.

    • William Kelsey November 8, 2024, 11:29 am

Who said shit about him being on his back? The whole thing started when he attempted to car jack somebody! Anybody with a firearm for defensive purposes would have been well withing their rights to shut him down right then! And considering this happened in the fuck-around-and-find-out state, he’s lucky it didn’t happen before the cops got there! A lifelong criminal got what they deserved. The daughter can stuff her race card up her entitled ass!

      • mp November 8, 2024, 1:14 pm

I don’t want cops who kill people too readily. Attracts the wrong type. There’s a point at which more shots aren’t justified, and that was passed here.

        • Frank November 11, 2024, 8:48 am

… and YOU know this based on how many years working the streets as a cop?

          • mp November 11, 2024, 1:08 pm

Don’t act like courts and cops and eye witnesses haven’t said the same thing plenty of times. What do you get out of pointless denial that there are TOE that go beyond just “once you feel justified, shoot as long as you like”? Hell, you’d say they could take a break, go down to the gun shop for some more shells, and come back to lay in a few more.

    • ralph November 8, 2024, 11:58 am

No loss….Imagine…if he had survived one bullet he would have been let go and turned into model citizen giving back to the community, he would have become a leader in the community and outstanding member in the church. 🫵😏With his long police record he would have finally had gotten his life together.

    • Beobear November 8, 2024, 1:34 pm

There’s no such thing as a “fill him full of lead” mentality, it only exists in the heads of people incapable of rational and logical thought. If you knew what you were talking about, which you clearly don’t, you would know that police officers and military are taught to keep shooting until the threat is no longer a threat. If murdering POS is still holding onto his weapon as he goes down he earns more pew pew. This is done because as long as random violent POS is armed, then random POS is a danger to other people as well as the police. Police, as well as any citizen who’s defending themselves, are going to fire multiple shots as fast as accurately possible to neutralize the treat as soon as possible. In a normal shooting the officer might fire three or four shots in the manner of a second and a half. Let’s say you have two officers who are forced to shoot and that number doubles to six or eight shots. And contrary to the liberal thought process, no, cops or citizens defending themselves, don’t have time to stop and start a game of rock, paper, scissors to decide who’s going to shoot.

      • mp November 8, 2024, 2:17 pm

Denying that panic shooting, fright shooting, adrenaline shooting, anger shooting, and revenge shooting aren’t impulses operating in that moment only exists in the heads of people incapable of rational and logical thought, unfamiliar with human nature, or arguing dishonestly. Just like knowing when it’s justified to start shooting, the key to knowing when to stop is when the threat is neutralized. That often stops short of execution. An obvious example would be when the guy wasn’t a threat in the first place, but even actual threats can be neutralized short of 5 or 10 or 20 rounds, often times. When the guy has a knife, is on the ground, everyone else is on their feet and running away, there has to come a point short of running out of ammo when the shooting stops. Where that point is, is an important detail, and one that has to be reflected in police training and oversight. It’s clear that different cops shoot vastly different number of shots in similar situations. That aspect needs attention to make sure that people aren’t killed needlessly. Not every fear or threat is justification for execution, and hiding behind ‘neutralizing the threat’ is just begging the question of threat assessment, which once the first trigger pull is justified, is almost never brought into the follow-up investigation. That’s wrong, a violation of human rights, and an abdication of civic responsibility.

        • Frank November 11, 2024, 9:03 am

… again, how many years were you a cop?

      • mike parker November 8, 2024, 2:28 pm

        Never heard of Philip Brailsford?

        • Beobear November 8, 2024, 2:46 pm

In that case the police officer made a split second decision and fired 5 shots which falls directly in line with what I said. It can be argued all day whether it was justified but we don’t have to because the jury in that case already did that for us, finding Brailsford innocent of any wrongdoing.

          • mike parker November 9, 2024, 3:24 pm

He was guilty as sin, and got fired – again – for it. He hustled the guy – using contradictory orders and escalation tactics – who clearly was unarmed and in no position to threaten him or his partner into a situation where he could kill him. Even his partner thought so. Five rounds from a rifle into a submissively positioned, unarmed guy in his underwear. That he was acquitted proves nothing. Some psychopaths wear badges.

Have you seen the video where the cop shoots a guy, and then says “I got one!”? Have you seen the video where the group of cops puts a few dozen rounds into a guy, and another cop late to the party throws one into the motionless guy a good couple seconds later?

Stuff like this happens. Impulse shooting is a thing. Why claim otherwise, just picking sides? Backing the blue without question?

      • Brian November 8, 2024, 3:28 pm

To argue there’s no such mentality towards this defies logic. Yes, you fire to put down the lethal threat..that’s standard self-defense training, regardless of military (I’m fmr 11M, so that’s my background), law enforcement, or otherwise. However, the idea that law enforcement has never once gone overboard in firing excessively ignores history. Amadou Diallo was murdered by NYPD officers, shot 19 times (out of 41 bullets fired, so so much for police accuracy) while unarmed and not even being the suspect they were looking for. There are probably dozens of other examples as well. Most cops are very poorly trained when it comes to firearms, very much so have a tendency to escalate rather than de-escalate, and are predisposed towards physical force. That doesn’t take away from the apparent lawfulness of this specific shooting, but your comments about “no such thing as a fill him full of lead mentality” ignores facts when it comes to a lot of LEO actions.

        • Beobear November 8, 2024, 4:30 pm

That’s a ridiculous conclusion. You claim that the actions of a small number of officers over the history of law enforcement proves the claim that there’s a “fill em full of lead” mentality among police officers but there’s a reason why small numbers of incidents are called exceptions to the rule. It makes no sense. Consider the total numbers of police involved shootings and then any that can be set aside for potential over use of force. You end up with a statistically tiny number of cases and upon investigation, almost all of them the officers involved were found innocent of wrong doing. If anything you’ve proven your own claim wrong. There’s no such thing as a “fill em full of lead” mentality in law enforcement. Such a mentality would require intent to begin with and that’s not been proved in any the cases.

          • Brian November 9, 2024, 10:25 pm

In all honesty, I’m going to assess there’s a strong likelihood you’re LEO or associated with LEOs…there’s a strong trend towards “the cop is always right” in your statements/absolutism. As I stated in other comments, use of force was justified in this case. However, you again claim I overstate the case of a “fill’em with lead” mentality while at the same time stating your own case in absolutes (“no such thing…in law enforcement”). If you were willing to acknowledge there are cases of excessive force (to include mag-dumps without cause) then I’d give you points for reason, not that you’d care, but at least it’d improve your credibility. However, you don’t do that. This is one of those cases you’ll just have to accept folks don’t agree with you. For my part, one of the reasons why I’m a 2A proponent is that folks need arms to defend themselves from LEOs who engage in authoritarianism, brutality, and the like. I’d hope you’re not one of those, but if we had good cops in the majority the bad cops would have been rooted out years ago.

  • THWALK November 8, 2024, 9:27 am

Well done Officers. At least the victim and you folks were able to go home. The THUG, well he is dead and went home, to HELL. Good riddance. Now his daughter just needs to grow up and accept the fact her father got what he deserved. And by the way a Taser is best 50% effective.

    • Mark Smith November 8, 2024, 10:43 am

this guy has been a problem for years, Sorry Daughter but this guy needed to GO. if you attack me I will empty my weapon on you 1 shot to 20 shots it doesn’t matter I will keep pulling that trigger until there are no more Booms and You stop moving. if you are still moving I’ll add another Mag and keep going.

    • Brian November 8, 2024, 3:29 pm

The way most cops shoot their pistols are at best 50% effective, given the quantity of rounds fired vs those on target.

      • Thwalk November 8, 2024, 8:18 pm

SPOKEN LIKE SOMEONE THAT HAS NO IDEA WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT. You shoot until the threat has STOPPED. Had he dropped his knife when told to, he would NOT have been shot. Time for Brian to open his eyes and grow up.

        • Brian November 8, 2024, 8:26 pm

Spoken like someone who can’t read, as I’d already posted prior to my comment that you shoot to stop a threat, not fire warning shots. Time for you to read some comments and understand what you’re talking about.

        • mp November 11, 2024, 2:32 pm

If you fire 5 shots in 2 seconds, then you really have no idea whether shots 2 through 5 were necessary to stop the threat. The phrase “shoot until the threat is stopped” provides little in the way of a usable benchmark. What you describe could also be called “shoot him again just to make sure. Now again. Now again.” depending on circumstances. Just because you can put 5 shots into someone before they even react, doesn’t come close to meaning all 5 were needed. I think the indifference to shot count is a problem. Not in every instance. But it deserves consideration. Cops mistake threat levels sometimes.

  • Jim C November 8, 2024, 9:25 am

What the officers did is prevent a life-long, never going to change, criminal from committing more crimes.

Daughter says, “….getting our people some help, especially my race”. Oh, My Gosh! Her “race” has been getting nothing but help for 60 years!
Her Dad was a criminal, forever. How about the help needed by those he committed a crime against. Many of those people will NEVER recover, yet you want your Dad to get some help?

I realize the “help” they have been getting has been the wrong kind. But, Daddy should have recongnized the error of his way long ago.

  • El Zorro November 8, 2024, 8:55 am

“If what the officers did was legal”??? What???? Really?????
This country needs to wake up and accept that violent criminals like Djuan Jackson only understand one thing. For example: The daughter fails to grasp one of the most basic rules of society. Namely: If you don’t wish to be treated like a fool, don’t act like one!
    BTW: Liked “Bravo Mike” ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, when are these families gonna start getting their ‘loved ones’ help???? She mourns her Father, but where was she and her family BEFORE?

  • Philip November 8, 2024, 8:37 am

The officer was in the right.

JSO were absolutely correct taking the steps they took. Assailant was attacking victim with a deadly weapon to the victim’s head, and they had no recourse but to stop the potential murder taking place. The daughter is understandably upset because she lost her dad, but he was a dangerous criminal who obviously didn’t learn anything from being incarcerated. FAFO

Oh, yeah, let’s throw in the race card! If she was so concerned about the mental issues with her father, then she needed to be more involved, that’s not necessarily the job of the police. First and foremost police are to protect the populace and control crime. I know that this is going to upset cupcakes out there, but in many cases, they don’t have the time or the leisure to be playing counselor with a perp. Yeah, it was a butter knife, but even those can case physical damage – one time my sister & I were messing around & I ran a butterknife over her leg and the serrated edge cut pretty deeply – needed stitches & she still has the scar.
This also has NOTHING to do with playing race. The guy was being bizarre and physically threatening. Turn this around – what if it was her dad that was being attacked?

Good shoot! It doesn’t matter what he was using to attack that other person he was intent on doing major harm, and that when he wouldn’t stop, he should’ve been put down and he was!

It darkens the heart to call dark deeds “good.” It gives place for evil to thrive inside us. Every war is fought both without and within. Of that, every soldier must be mindful.

No one’s “glad” the assailant was killed, so spare us the lecture. Deciding to be a criminal is NOT a career choice. He knew the consequences and probably let the police shoot him instead of having to go back to prison for the crimes he was actively partaking in. His daughter is sadly playing the race card, and this HAS TO STOP. Ask any MAGA member of ANY race, and they’ll tell you the same.

        • mp November 8, 2024, 10:31 am

I count 3 posts saying they are glad he was killed. You’ll find those here every time someone is killed in this kind of situation.

Everyone has their own opinion. That’s the first amendment, whether you like it or not. Let’s stop making excuses for the criminals and laying the blame on the police officers. You can blame the Democrats for this bullshit. They’re the ones who put inner city blacks in this situation. And now they want to play the race card to stay in it because it’s easy to steal from someone else than it is to get a real job and work for a living. Let’s. not sugarcoat this with your bleeding heart mentality. Once you fix the family situation and have a father in the house raising the kids as well as the mother, you’re going to see these numbers drastically drop. Yes. That’s a fact.

Don’t disagree, but everyone else has a responsibility as well. Just the same way I want the first shot to be justified, the rest have to be as well.

        Really????

  • Whathappenedtomycountry November 8, 2024, 7:31 am

Sorry for your loss, but your father wasn’t a good person and probably deserved to die the way he did.

  • Paul November 8, 2024, 7:24 am

The officer saved the life of the black man being attacked by a man with a deadly weapon. It was attempted murder and the police saved the black man. The offending man ignored orders to drop the deadly weapon. A butter knife can kill and is a lethal weapon. It was black on black and the police saved the black man’s life. Serve and protect, they did just that.

  • Non bleeding heart November 8, 2024, 6:53 am

How is the officer supposed to know the guy has mental issues within seconds of arriving on the scene? From his record he’s not a good person. Be it a butter knife or hunting knife he still could have killed him. Do stupid things win stupid prizes.
