Any Star Wars fans out there? You may get a kick out of this one. Battle Arms Development has brought some fun-guns to the SHOT show. These are Star Wars themed ARs are fun to look at. How do they shoot? I’m not sure. But there’s no reason to think they wouldn’t be amazing blasters. They’re light, though. So light that I thought they were models at first. We’re going to do another feature on the BAD ARs, so stay tuned for that, but I thought I’d put in this plug now for the blasters.
Anyone who knows much about me knows I like my Star Wars trivia. I taught a Star Wars themed class in my previous life as a college professor. Seeing the cultural pinnacle of my youth so adeptly blended with my current fixation on guns is a bit trippy. But I’m not complaining.
And the guns are proving popular. I didn’t find them at the SHOT Show until late Thursday afternoon. And then they had to be pointed out to me. I understand why I missed them. The booth is small, and there were at least 30 people fighting to get in to see the guns. And the helmets. The helmets were getting a lot of attention, especially from those of us who recognize the new Episode 7 Storm Trooper design.

Thanks for chiming in! You know (more than most, judging by the traffic in your booth) how chaotic the week can be. Information was hard to come by, not because it wasn’t there, but because of the crush of people in the booth. That kind of popularity is great to see. Jacob stuck around and got the real info, and that article will be following in the SHOT coverage for next week.
Oh, and I think you should be making these guns. You might strike a chord with Vader’s 501st and strike up a deal with Simunitions–a whole new kind of force on Storm Trooper force.

Just the needs the Imperial emblems in red for the finishing touch. Cool way to market the firearm with the battle-worn helmets.
Here is why I am completely against this. A gun is first and foremost a weapon, a tool for certain jobs, which include recreation, competition, hunting and self-defense. Turning a real firearm into something that looks like a toy diminishes the respect required for a safety mindset. Without the right attitude and mindset, it is impossible to handle, clean, transport and operate firearms in a manner that is safe to both the operator and others around him or her.
In addition, it blurs the line between real guns and toys. We already have problems with law enforcement being able to recognize someone with a real gun from an airsoft gun. I could see criminals making their guns look like toys to evoke hesitation from a law enforcement officer.
Let’s stay serious about gun safety, because that is the only way we can continue to preserve our rights against those who are working fervently to take them away.
Sometimes just because you can do something, doesn’t mean that you should. It is not a popular message, for sure, but personal responsibility and self-discipline is required for a free state to work.
Wanting to limit what people can produce and sell, for fear of irresponsible people, is anathema to both personal responsibility and the free state you espouse.
My god people! Soooo sad how many folks here completely missed the point of this. The gun grabbers just make stuff up anyway so yeah not hurting anything on That front .second it was to show their skill and capabilities so yeah go home find a mirror and some really big pliers bend over and remove the giant stick from your rectums eh.
I have actually seen some guns a guy in tn built and coated that looked even more like blasters from Star Wars but were functional AR SBR. He used free float handguards longer than the barrel and a muzzle device he designed to give the appearance of the large bore/muzzle of the old style laser guns from earlier movies. They were black and white with small electric blue highlights. He used the retractable stocks that look kind of like the HK sliding stocks.

This is my opinion but in this day and age of anti-gun groups and their desires to ban guns, I see no reason to make a fantasy AR15 type gun. Guns were originally designed for one purpose but to kill, and through the years we have evolved where the gun can have more than its designed purpose . Many people enjoy target shooting and other aspects of shooting derived activities, but to me a gun should maintain its designed utility look and appearance. Even with this gun I have to ask who wants the muzzle brake useless curved attachment. Fixed sights will usually catch on enough items and now we have a limb catcher deliberately mounted..
The muzzle brake curved attachment is to re-direct the brakes gasses forward… 😉
Variety is the spice of life and opinions will vary.
Plus, the target consumer of this fantasy gun would likely not be still-hunting through the woods with it. Heck, it may only see live-fire on the range, presuming it ever actually makes a trip to the range. Strange, I know. But it’s “Star Wars” and some of those folks take their hobby far too seriously *and* they likely think the same of shooters who live on the range and/or in the woods and/or with large gun collections.

I feel the opposite. I think this gun could be used to include a new sector of the market.If more people see these and purchase an AR because of it, realize how fun they can be, it would add a new level of legitimacy and could put the AR beyond the reach of anti-gunners. Not that this would stop them, because banning guns has nothing to do with their legitimacy.
This is simply a range queen, if it would ever be shot at all. The person that would actually pay for this thing would buy it, take it to the range once or twice to show his buddies that he was cool and then it would go in a display case or gun safe until being passed to his children or sold at an estate sale. If you’re gonna drop money on this, you would already have something much more suited for defense. Don’t rain on our geek parade, man.

To those who may not know, the stormtroopers used the Sterling smg that was dolled up to make the Blastech E-11.http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/E-11_blaster_rifle And ironically it was the rebel blaster from Return of the Jedi that was based on the AR-15. Pity no one has made a furniture kit to make it look like the Blastech A280 http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/A280_blaster_rifle

Shouldn’t be too difficult. If memory serves, I think Han’s pistol was basically a C96 Broomhandle Mauser. The hard part would be finding someone who wanted to do the job on a collectable gun, although you could get a non firing replica & do the deed to that.
Obviously you have no idea as to the machining that went into a Mauser C-96. There is a reason it, the Parabellum P-08 and the HK P-7 are no longer made. Not economically feasible in this day and age due to all the tight tolerance machining required. Not even with CNC mills. And if you want a replica, those are already available on collector sites, for the appropriate fan boy fee. Nope, nothing to see here. These are not the guns you are looking for. Move along.
I see no need to make a gun look like a toy, too many kids getting shot for that already, toys that look like guns.
If you look on ebay you’ll find non firing replica C96’s for about $100 that you could make into a Han Solo style blaster. Granted, you won’t be able to actually shoot it but I have to wonder how many of the AR’s that are produced will ever be fired. I have a feeling most will be wallhangers/conversation pieces. Obviously only someone with a lot more money than sense would try to build a C96 from scratch or buy an existing real deal C96 for such a purpose,

Yes, it’s another AR platform firearm, but it looks like it would be a hoot to shoot! And as for the anti-gun numbnuts…..THEY don’t like ANY gun, PERIOD!
