The AccuSight Pistol Sight Tool from Lyman: Another Valuable Tool for the Work Bench
Lyman’s new sight pusher, the AccuSight, is great for DIY type projects like this 80 Percent Arms Glock build, or for the gunsmith who adjusts sights daily. It is extremely versatile and easy to use no matter who the operator is.

If you are a licensed gunsmith, DIY-oriented gun owner, or someone who will inevitably tinker with their equipment, Lyman’s new AccuSight pistol sight tool will be a valuable asset to you for adjusting dovetail pistol sights. This tool is extremely versatile, fitting most pistol slides, including Glock models and 1911s.

With it’s four horizontal and one vertical sight clamps, you can lock in your slide with certainty. I was able to use the AccuSight to complete an 80% Glock build where I would have otherwise used a punch and hammer… and inevitably caused some irreparable damage.

Preparing to crank the rear sight into place. Once I lowered the sight pusher down further on the sight, I was ready to crank it into place. Notice the 1/32″ indexing marks.

In this project, I had a GST-9 frame from 80 Percent Arms that went together very easily. Even installing the slide internals on my Rival Arms slide was smooth.

However, looming in the back of my mind was the sight installation step. I had no idea how I was going to do this because a hammer and punch is messy and risky, and I had never used a sight pusher tool before. Luckily, using the AccuSight is extremely easy and completely stress-free. I’ll admit, I didn’t read any instructions on how to use it because it was that intuitive to operate.

The slide locks into place with four horizontal clamps. Once you have the slide centered horizontally, with the dovetail under the sight pusher, you can then lock it down vertically with the one vertical clamp. Finally, you can insert your sight and crank it into place with ease using the oversized handle that provides tons of leverage.

The AccuSight comes with two different sight pushers, one for angled sights and one for straight-sided sights. It has a CNC machined aluminum body, five total clamps that keep your slide secure and a larger sight pusher handle that provides all the leverage you will need even for the most stubborn sights.

The AccuSight has 1/32″ increments to aid you in sight adjustments and it works on most pistols. Expect to see this in a store near you for around $100.
