Bank of America: 'Full Stop' on Lending Money to AR Makers

Bank of America Vice Chairwoman Anne Finucane.  (Photo: Bloomberg)

Bank of America will no longer lend money to companies that manufacturer AR-pattern rifles, an executive for the company told Bloomberg News this week.

After “intense conversations over the last few months” with its clients that make these scary-looking guns for the civilian market, BoA decided to cut funding on a “go-forward basis.”

“We have just a handful of manufacturers. They know what our intentions are,” said BoA vice chairwoman Anne Finucane. “It’s our intention not to finance these military-style firearms for civilian use.”

To be abundantly clear, Finucane was asked if it was a “100 percent, full stop” on funding — she replied, “Yes.”

“We want to contribute in anyway we can to reduce these mass shootings,” Finucane said, at the outset of the interview. “That’s such a tragedy in the United States.”

Reactions from the manufacturers were “mixed,” according to Finucane, who added, “We’ll just leave it at that.  They’re our clients, and we have enjoyed a relationship, but there are those that I think will reduce their portfolio, and we’ll work with them, and others that will choose to do something else.”

She said that the company’s position would not affect retailers — at least not yet.

“The problem with that is that gets into civil liberties and Second Amendment,” explained Finucane. “That’s a good public dialogue, but that’s a ways off.”

The anti-gun lobby was quick to applaud the move.

“We were heartened to see Bank of America join the list of companies stepping up to keep America safe,” said Avery Gardiner, co-president of the Brady Campaign. “Why would anyone want to help finance assault weapons that are regularly used in mass shootings?”

Meanwhile, the National Shooting Sports Foundation lamented that they weren’t a part of the conversation.

“We as an industry would welcome the opportunity to sit down with Bank of America executives and explain our industry’s perspective to discuss what really would work to keep firearms out of the hands of those who should not have them,” said Michael Bazinet, a spokesman for the NSSF, the firearms industry trade association.

“We should be part of the discussion,” he continued.

Bank of America isn’t the only lending institution to turn a cold shoulder to gun companies. Citigroup recently announced that it would no longer do business with companies that sell bump-fire stocks and “high capacity” magazines.

Will the trend continue?  Given that bankers are superbly ethical people who really care about the Constitutional rights of citizens, I’m sure it won’t…  Yeah, and if you believe that, I got a bridge I want to sell you.

I refuse to use large mega banks, I bank with local community banks or hometown banks. They actually know who I am when I walk in the door. Keep your money local help all small business in your community that are 2nd amendment friendly.

I was told in 1978 by my friend’s mother, who was a long-time Bank of America employee, to get my money out of B of A and close my account. She told me that B of A no longer cared about customers or customer service, and a bunch of new fees were being implemented. I followed her advice, and have never done business with B of A since. They are indeed a industry leader in charging their customers fees.

Closed two credit card accounts with Bank Of America yesterday. I feel a little better and thinking a lot straighter.

  • Brian K April 16, 2018, 5:39 pm

I can affirm that banks are not “ethical”, honest, or moral in any way. My company has over $150M locked up between three banks (one of them is Bank of America). They won’t give a good reason for not releasing the funds other than that they need more time to verify the funds. They are already verified by the transmitting bank and the risk is born by the transmitting bank! They just want to keep the money on their ledger as long as possible. This is the most crooked industry ever known to man!

  • JAMES HEISE April 16, 2018, 2:31 pm

THE BANK OF BROWN THEY SHOULD STAY IN THE GREAT STATE OF SHIT

  • M Brown April 16, 2018, 1:01 pm

What most don’t realize is that B of A doesn’t care about consumers. It is GROSSLY unprofitable to have the average American’s checking account. What they WANT is fees and other revenue source – such as your mortgage, credit card, investments, etc.

I work for a bank that I PROMISE you traces its roots back to the mid/late 1800’s (no Wells) – and holds on to its heritage, morals, principles, beliefs, etc. very closely. For the almost 20 years I have been here, I have seen my company put its money where its heart is – and take stands that cost it profitability – because OUR leaders know that over time, doing the right thing will make you more in the long run… To this day for example, we have a policy that forbids us from doing loans on real estate which was taken from an owner under “eminent domain”…

That being said, we make mistakes… B of A on the other hand just doesn’t care… and the reason is that they WANT to run off certain “classes” of depositors – because not only are they unprofitable, but it makes room for them to bring in other depositors – because according to the Federal Reserve, B of A currently holds right at / just under the legal maximum limit of ALL U.S. deposits – at about 10%. Yes, that’s right, they don’t WANT “you” and “I” – they want the home-run clients. At their current level of deposits, they CANNOT acquire other banks, bring in huge municipalities, etc. unless and until they run off some of their existing deposit base…

Let that sink in for a minute… 10% of ALL MONEY IN THIS COUNTRY (more or less) is held by B of A… you think they need or want us peons…?

I applaud everyone who leaves B of A – whether business accounts or personal. But THIS is what happens when “too big to fail” gets involved…

And before you say it, not all banks are the same (as I said, mine makes mistakes too) – and not all credit unions are great. In fact, ask yourself how much lower your personal taxes might be if that “great” credit union of yours actually paid taxes for example…? just sayin’…!

B of A, and any business that sticks its neck out this far does so only after KNOWING the ramifications. So do you really think they CARE about you or I…?

    • paw April 16, 2018, 4:10 pm

OK, enough said, I’m cutting ties with BoA. BIG QUESTION, I have a big chunk of money at Merrill Lynch owned by BoA, my retirement funds. What investment firms are 2nd Amendment friendly or at least not anti. M. Brown are you suggesting Wells Fargo? How can I screen financial institutions?

  • Ro Gal April 15, 2018, 10:54 pm

I suppose BOA is legally entitled to do this, and I am morally entitled to not put my savings into their coffers. This include my retirement 401K and any other assets. I’m glad they announced it so NRA and GOA members can act accordingly.

a bakery can refuse to make a wedding cake for a gay couple and the media spreds it like wild fire spuring many law suits despite the bakers religious beliefs but a bank can persecute a lawful company and the media turns a blind eye because it won’t get the ratings they desire

  • Hondo April 15, 2018, 5:37 pm

F*** The BOA, I stopped doing business with these unethical Cretans years ago.

  • CRAIG April 15, 2018, 2:53 pm

That is discrimination in it’s purest form. Completely illegal and I hope manufacturers sue the crap out of the bank.

  • kjj1564 April 15, 2018, 11:10 am

I closed my Bank of America account 15 years ago after they continually kept raising my interest rates without a heads up or a reason. When i was late 2 days on a payment, with out warning they raised my interest rates from 13% to 24%. I transferred my balance to a different credit card and closed my account. They have tried to get me to return over the years but it will be a cold day in hell before i do business with them again.

  • kjj1564 April 15, 2018, 10:59 am

I wish i still had a BAO credit card so i could cut it up send it back to them and tell them to shove it up there ass. I hope there stocks tank and there stockholders realize that whoever is responsible should be fired. What the BAQ is doing is letting Hogg and a few Martyred Protesting high school kids make multi million dollar decisions for them, because that’s whats this decision is all about. Where was the outrage when all the Kindergarten kids were slaughtered at Sandi hook not a peep from BAQ, was there? That’s because you didn’t have a bunch of Kindergartens paraded around by the left using them as props for there left wing anti gun agenda. Im sure BAQ was threatened to be boycotted buy the left ant these 17 year old Martyrs, to push there anti gun agenda, and BAQ caved!

I will no longer knowingly support anti-gun and anti-hunting credit card providers, retail entities or insurance companies. So far, my personal list includes all Capital One, CitiCorp and Bank of America credit cards and financial facilities as well as Progressive and Liberty Mutual insurance products. These include the following credit cards: Menards, Home Depot, Cabela’s, Bass Pro Shops, Sears and others. The financial benefit of having these products is not worth the sacrifice and continued erosion of Constitutional liberty. I will not support a political lobby that intentionally champions the loss of my liberty as a American Citizen and a Veteran of the United States armed forces.

______________________ has demonstrated in the American news media that it is an anti-Second Amendment organization intent on modifying and/or destroying my right to own weapons, ammunition and various accessories. I will no longer patronize your financial products or institutions.

This is nothing new for boa, when I returned from Vietnam my wife had sent me a US Postal Money order to buy my airline ticket from Travis AFB back to my home base in Georgia. They refused to cash it because I was a baby killer from Vietnam. I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH boa.

  • Campbell King April 13, 2018, 4:07 pm

BOFa is crooked as hell ..Who cares..Birds of a feather u know.

  • Walter E Jackson April 13, 2018, 4:06 pm

I found Bank of America to be completely corrupt in my dealings with them regarding my forclosure. The spun a black hole when trying to short sell that was simply surreal. I will never take out another mortgage that might sell to B of A. I have an Alaska Airlines mileage card that I keep (and regret is through B of A) because I live in Alaska , but after hearing this I will only use it for Firearm and related purchases and only make those purchases using this card. I will also never again carry over a balance that may be subject to interest. I call on all Patriots to fight back in such a manner; or boycott them altogether.

  • Ken Janulewicz April 13, 2018, 3:11 pm

Bullshit that it won’t affect retailers. When I got my FFL, I went to my branch for credit card processing. They absolutely refused. We have 3 accounts and our home mortgage there.

  • MikeB April 13, 2018, 3:06 pm

Bank of Amigo. They support illegals but not lawful American citizens or companies.

  • MadDog Mike April 13, 2018, 2:38 pm

Everyone that has any dealings with these two banks need to cancel all accounts. Stores that are owned by Patriots that have nothing to do with the gun industry but use these banks need to move their accounts. Personal accounts of gun owners that use these banks need to switch banks. Maybe then they’l get the message, but I seriously doubt it. At least they’ll lose some money hopefully.

  • KENT M BOGARD April 13, 2018, 2:16 pm

Now that I’ve read more comments, I think maybe I will OPEN a credit card account with B of A. I’ll ask for mailed paper statements. I’ll make ONE purchase a month with the account for maybe ONE DOLLAR, and I will MAIL them a paper CHECK to pay the account each month. Sure that is a bit of effort, but it will sure be more expensive for them to process that account for me than what they will earn off the $1.00 purchase a month!

Ignorant B of A idiots! I went to my B of A bank and got a cash advance on my B of A credit card and went to my favorite gun shop, bought a AR-15 with ammo and a case. Next day I wrote a check at my bank to pay back my B of A card and canceled my B of A card and closed my B of A checking and savings account.

They sound like they are the Democratic party press room. Not a single fact amongst them.

  • Gary D Almon April 13, 2018, 1:52 pm

There is no credibility in Bank of America…check their history. This corporation was caught up in the mortgage scandals in the 2008 to 2009 financial meltdown. They were caught by the treasury department and fined for their illegal practices, though the fines were ineffective to slow down these guys. They, as well as other national banks, (Chase, Wells Fargo, etc.) where swindling millions of homeowners. No one should do business with these guys…if you are; drop em’.

  • Dan April 13, 2018, 1:46 pm

If BofA wishes to cut off funding, then its high time the public who are BofA members cut their tunes with them. There are plenty of financial institutions out there who would gladly accept new accounts and with a far better respect for their new account holders. All of these so called knee jerk companies need to be taught a lesson.

Also, I had an NRA credit card for many years, issued by First National Bank of Omaha. Got heavy use at one time. When they very publicly and offensively bailed on gun-owners, the card had not been used for a couple of years. Then out of the blue (and this was AFTER they announced they no longer wanted gun-owners’ business) FNB of Omaha sent me a letter saying, “Your account is still active, and we sure would like to have your business.” Hahaha!

  • tim April 13, 2018, 12:30 pm

If bank of America was really serious, they would tell the gun manufacturers that already have a loan with them that they don’t need to pay back their current loans, since boa would still making money from these manunacturers until the loan is paid in full. They could potentially be making money from them for another 20 or 30 years. Yeah, ain’t holding my breath for that one.

  • Bill Cooke April 13, 2018, 12:19 pm

If anyone has any dealings with Bank of American, end those dealings now and find another bank or credit union to deal with. What B of A is doing is a slap in the face of our 2 Amend rights that the left has always wanted a reason to destroy.

  • Mr. Sparkles April 13, 2018, 12:10 pm

I can’t be silent on this any longer. People in America have to stop being Boobus Americanus !
Bank of America is a multi-national corporation directed by criminal elites whom by now observing growing unrest in a huge global population are out to disarm as many of the peasants as possible before they can overwhelm the paramilitary police force in place over them.
Why WOULDN’T you think these too big to fail institutions have an interest in the private arms industry collapse??
Most do not even know they can form Cooperatives to fund these arms companies and others for you assume you can do nothing outside of these parasitical orgs of planetary piracy.

If you dont believe this Financial Institute didn’t check all the current customer base before she made this statement, I have a castle you can have for a dollar. If they have a customer like Bass Pro Shop you would have never saw her face grace the screen with this comment. So what this leads up to they dont have ANY customers of any value so they say this to fool all the Anti Gun groups to make their self look like they care. But what the forgot to check is all the individuals with guns as a group would cost them, what all the customers that have accounts pick a day to walk into the bank with scissors cut their bank cards up put the on Mangers desk and tell them you want to close all your accounts you must do this as a group let the local news be aware of what the groups plans are. Free News coverage they will hate having this on the 6:00 News. To make this short and sweet they were so smart they out smarted their selves

Does anyone have data as to what percentage of NRA members vote? I’d wager its high….
Apparently, BofA has forgotten the fact they they were/are a “too big to fail” beneficiary – as was Citi, also mentioned in this piece – of U.S. Taxpayer bailout funds. As a result of the bailout, these schnooks should not be allowed to randomly discriminate against ANYONE, much less companies whose customers are more often than not, dedicated Americans when it comes to the poling place! My Mom has been a BofA customer since 1978 – Guess what!

  • Bob April 13, 2018, 10:30 am

This shows the continued ignorance of what an assault rifle is by leftist anti-american idiots. All they can do is to continue to spout the same talking points which are based on ignorance of guns and ignorance of what is the root problem with mass shootings. It appears to be a futile effort in trying to talk to these people and now they are showing their willingness to circumvent due process, i.e. the Constitution/Bill of Rights, to further their goals of disarming our people. They want to make sheep out of the people and empowering the wolves.
Is this action being taken by BoA representative of their stock holders? or those that are already doing funding through them like Bass Pro and Home Depot? They, BoA don’t like the “scary” black rifle, but do they approve of abortion that kills hundreds of thousands of innocent lives each year? The hypocrisy is daunting in its scope.
I am sorry to have lived long enough to see America turning communist.

  • James April 13, 2018, 10:26 am

I transferred my personal BoA credit card to another major bank card company. When I called BoA customer support to tell them I was closing my account because of their recent corporate decision, they tried their best to talk me out it saying, “It could affect your credit” (which is just fine, by the way). I also called Bass Pro to tell them I was closing their credit card account because of BoA’s recent decision. They, too, tried to persuade me not too close their account. I asked if they were going to change to another credit card company. They said at this time they knew of no plans to change.. Not that I will stop shopping at Bass Pro, but I will be using my new credit card company for future purchases there. I may be only one former BoA customer, but we as gun owners have to take stand. As Captain Picard once said, “The line is drawn here! No farther!”

  • BRASS April 13, 2018, 10:16 am

Citizens who support our Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Second Amendment or just the individual freedom from corporate overlords need to be aware of those corporations that do not.
We must make and effort to support those companies who also support those things essential to the maintenance of American freedom and NOT those companies like Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Facebook, Google and others, especially financial institutions.
As a retired Marine I only bank with Navy Federal Credit Union and USAA. Both were created exclusively to support veterans and their families so you know they don’t have socialist ideologues at the helm, particularly NFCU which as a credit union is member owned and member run.
Make and effort to support the good guys, to avoid supporting the bad guys and tell those you can to do the same.

BoA.. Bank of Assholes. Blow me.

  • NevadaVoter April 13, 2018, 10:08 am

B of A just lost my $1/2 million account! Idiots…

  • Phil April 13, 2018, 10:04 am

BOA is run by liberals and liberalism is a cancer and destroys everything it touches.

  • William Lynn April 13, 2018, 10:02 am

BoA was the bank that many years ago were handing out credit cards to Illegals like candy.

  • JB April 13, 2018, 10:02 am

I shred every piece of mail I get from BoA.
AARP also supports gun control and abortion.

    • KP April 13, 2018, 10:56 am

Every senior should join AMAC instead of AARP.

  • DIYinSTL April 13, 2018, 9:59 am

If you do have an account with BoA, call their customer service at 1.800.933.6262 (the number only works if you have an account with them), speak to a representative, politely inform them that you have a complaint to be passed on to upper management, inform them of your dissatisfaction with their decision to treat gun manufacturers with prejudice and if you are closing your accounts tell them that you are and this is why. In hindsight I wish that I thought to suggest they keep a tally of how many people open an account and volunteer that they do so because of BoA’s new policy. Also pay a visit to your local branch, ask to speak to a “personal banker” and tell them why you are closing your accounts. We need to make sure that BoA gets the message.

  • David Welsh April 13, 2018, 9:59 am

Carve liberal, clueless, NYC and Albany out and place them as Cuban protectorates. The NY problem will be solved. The communists and their US shills are uppety and need to be put in their place.

  • JungleCogs April 13, 2018, 9:56 am

More like the ‘Bank of Un-America’.

  • A J April 13, 2018, 9:48 am

Given that historically bankers have shown just how they subscribe to the ethics of morality I’m sure that other lenders will be more than willing to step up with funding. I myself would rather be a well armed target than just a target. Thank God for the 2nd!

  • Joaquin April 13, 2018, 9:46 am

  • Allen Lawson April 13, 2018, 9:45 am

If you use Bank of America service cancel them and use others . You may even save money doing it . Regardless leave them we have to sometime fight and pay for our freedom . Encourage all your family to do the same thing and all your friends and acquaintances. Everybody go out and buy another weapon of your choice.I personally want a Colt M-4 LE 6920. HELP PROTECT YOUR RIGHTS and never ever give up any of them. Take those kids to the range or go hunting . Keep America free and a great place to live. I don’t care to defend my family with a bucket of rocks or a short baseball bat ha what a joke. Anyway just say to h— with BOA

One should consider closing or moving their accounts at Merrill as well. WITH a note to the chairman as to why.

I have emailed my broker to ask about this situation.

  • Jay Ridgway April 13, 2018, 9:20 am

BoA, read my lips, “NO MORE BUSINESS WITH ME”. I’m closing all my BoA accounts. Also I boycott all businesses that attack me, a legal gun owner.

    • Jorge Garcia April 13, 2018, 10:16 am

PLEASE LISTEN CLOSELY TO THIS COMMUNIST B***CH, THESE ARE THE BIG MONEY GIANTS KILLING AMERICA AND THE AMERICAN DREAM…BoA killed me and my small concrete cutting business when they decided to take solid paying customers credit, and slashing it when the bubble popped years ago. I had 40K credit limit with 780 FICO SCORES, and bought all my cutting tools and bits with my 2 BoA credit cards, I made a 28K payment after a big job and they reduced my credit limit to my balance at the time, essentially shutting me down. Thank God and this great country, I am a successful business man again and managed to recover from the hit, but I won’t even take a check from a tenant from Bank of America, if you want to rent from me, and have an account with these commie PR***S you will have to open an account with another bank. The sad part is that most other small banks follow these idiots, so it’s up to us to say, NO TO BANK OF AMERICA. Do not let these millionaires run your life, I bad mouth them every chance I get. Furthermore I truly hope next time they get held up, the swat team that gets sent out to save their slaves, have to use bolt action hunting rifles. Just a joke to soothe the memory of a horrible time in my life, thanks to this piece of crap bank, I should have known better than to place all my eggs in one basket.

  • Paul April 13, 2018, 9:19 am

Have been a customer of BOA, from the days of C&S, from the mid 70’s. After this position taken by the company I have started the process to transfer all my business to my local credit union and close out my BOA accounts. A small potato to be sure, but hopefully one of many that take this step.

Another knee jerk reaction by liberals. A few people on social media are now making the policy of large corporations in this country. What a shame.

  • joefoam April 13, 2018, 9:15 am

Boycott is a good solution, I say keep a credit card with them with a $1.00 balance on it so it will cost them money to service your account. The minimal cost of interest on your balance will be worth the pleasure of knowing it is costing them more than they are making.

    • John C April 13, 2018, 9:39 am

Great idea. I have a Costco Citigroup credit card. I am going out to buy a cup of coffee now and put that on the card. Then I am going to open a Bank of America account with the minimum and have them make online payments at the tune of .10 per month to Citi. Heck maybe I should just cancel my Costco account while I am in the mood because they are associated with Citi. If Jesse Jackson can make a career out of boycotts and extortion then surely the firearm owners can do it. Civil discourse, bring it on. We financially hurt Dick’s Sporting goods, a threshold I will never cross again, we can financially hurt these lefties too.

But with sales Scoring threw the Roof because of all this B.S. I believe these Co. Are Strong…. How about Planned Parenthood, does this Bank do business with them?? Or other abortion clinics???
What if a gun maker CEO, or employee, wants a home loan, are they gonna discriminate there too???
Anyone see the dirty little problem here???

    • kane April 13, 2018, 10:14 am

Yes, BOA continues to support Planned Parenthood.

  • Richard April 13, 2018, 8:59 am

When the bank that dropped the NRA credit card business got involved in non business related causes, I canceled my NRA credit card. When I was in my 20’s (a long time ago), someone came into our business and asked if we would put up a sign about the cause they were advocating and being young, I said OK. A few hours later my father saw it and asked why I did that. I explained I thought it was a good cause. He then taught me a very valuable lesson when in business. He stated it may be a good cause, but everyone has different opinions. He further explained that in business, if you start getting involved in anything other than your business, you will loose some of your business. He gave me an easy to understand example by saying if you put up a sign whether for a democratic cause or a republican cause, you just lost 1/2 of your potential business and said “do you see how getting involved in ANYTHING other than our business can put us out of business”. I never forgot that core business principal.
Now when I see these highly educated, highly paid executives making decisions like this, I just wonder how much better BOA could have been if they had people running their company who should be thinking of how to make more profit for their stockholders instead of using the BOA name to talk about “their personal agenda’s”.
Now I have to move my business I give to BOA to another company. I will look for one that spends their time on how to attract more business and run their business like a business instead of getting involved in all sorts of issues that have nothing to do with the company that pays them very good. In the businesses I worked for, I would be fired instantly for making a policy that basically states “I have so much business, I don’t care about loosing some of it”. If that business idea is acceptable to those in charge, then soon another “Feel Good cause will loose some more business again and again.
How can they be so “educated” (Notice I stated educated and not smart) when they don’t even understand the core business principal: How do I get more business to grow my company and make more profit…… ????????

    • Baterycap April 13, 2018, 10:06 am

Amen from the back row. When you push diversification over competence, you get CEO’s such as this brain addled female. She is at heart anti-US, anti-Constitution, anti-democratic process, and anti-capitalist. At best, she should be running a Cuban government bank branch on a side street in Havana. Those who own BOA shares should consider carefully what kind of return they can expect on their investment in the future under this incompetent leadership.

    • Jorge Garcia April 13, 2018, 10:20 am

You are so right, run with your money elsewhere, these people dont deserve it. I wont do bussiness with this institution if my life depended on it.

  • Pappy April 13, 2018, 8:59 am

Bass Pro Shops uses BoA, So I’ll purchase an AR from Bass Pro use their credit card, then call them to pay it off and closing the account all while I’m telling why I’m doing it. Being they record every phone call. If all of us sportsmen do this across the country it will get the message across. Bass Pro will have to respond to our outcry if they want to continue to trade with us.

    • William Lynn April 13, 2018, 10:20 am

BassPro also owns Cabela’s if you happen to have one nearby. I do and I’m going to find out if BoA works with them or not. Their prices are too high anyway but they do have sales on reloading sypplies now and then.

  • don April 13, 2018, 8:59 am

  • Ed Beard Jr April 13, 2018, 8:44 am

If anyone knows or is part of any of these companies that are being cut off I can potentially help with funding. Excelccc.com

  • Mike April 13, 2018, 8:42 am

As I read all the comments about closing the accounts, I have a better idea.

Just spend a buck or less each month (treat yourself to a candy bar, you know you want that)
Then insist on a paper statement. Pay the bill from your bank feature that a sends a check in the mail, so BoA has to process it. Don’t do electronic funds transfer. That’s EFT and it won’t cost them labor.
The mailing they send you and processing will cost them huge! Plus when YOU close accounts, it has the potential to reduce your credit score in the short term, I think. Reply if you are gonna try….

  • Jim April 13, 2018, 8:40 am

I closed my account with them several years ago. If I hadn’t then, I would now.

  • pete April 13, 2018, 8:24 am

Time for gun manufacturers to secure lending through off shore banks and Russian money to preserve their business.Russia needs to fund a start up in America for credit cards so American’s can buy guns and ammo.At this point were going to have to find some foreign banking service to retain our freedom, how ironic is that.Mexican drug cartels should issue credit cards in America, they seem to have billions just sitting there not making any interest.

  • tyler kent April 13, 2018, 8:19 am

I’m closing all my accounts at B of A, including two credit cards. I hope NRA and GOA and ALL gun owner associations will continue to publicize B of A’s attacks on gunownership and encourage ALL gun owners — not just those who own ARs — to withdraw from B of A.

  • Ron A April 13, 2018, 8:18 am

I quit doing business with BofA along time ago when they started issuing credit cards to illegal immigrants, no social security card, no legal residency, no proof of employment but here you go take this credit card, run it up, don’t pay it and we’ll just pass that loss on to our legal residence partners. Nice job BofA.

  • Dogman April 13, 2018, 8:18 am

All this is going to do, is possibly force companies to seek out Foreign money to help with manufacturing. China perhaps?
B of A is a piece of manure. Nothing but problems with them concerning the personal and business banking experience. Big business seems to want to do whatever they can to strike back at our current administration, and hurting people, companies and our nation in the process. How bout that bailout? Screw em.

  • Doug April 13, 2018, 8:14 am

I’m sending BOA a short video of me, using my Costco Card to zero my AR-15

  • Vince April 13, 2018, 8:11 am

I went to cancel my credit card and HELOC with BOA( two different locations) and the girls at the had no idea what was going, then asked Why? I spent a total 10 minutes trying to explain to them, finally I said I didn’t like their business practices.

  • Jeffrey L. Frischkorn April 13, 2018, 8:09 am

Do what I did.. I took a copy of an original story on this subject and combined it with a short memo of my own. Together with my Bank of America credit card that I had cut into four pieces and taped to the original story I sent the whole shooting match (pun intended) to Ms. Finucane. I noted that while folks said there should be consequences to BoA for dealing with gun makers than the lending institution must also understand that there will be consequences – even minuscule ones like mine is – for its actions. It simply is not enough to engage speaking to the choir by voicing one’s opinion on this chat room. We must voice our thoughts where they can be best understood.

  • Ethan April 13, 2018, 7:56 am

I’ve been thinking about leaving BoA for some time now. That decision has just been made for me.

  • Taz April 13, 2018, 7:56 am

Bank of America is operated out of North Carolina and Citibank is out of New York City. If you have any accounts with these two robber barons close the accounts’ and/or do not renew any contracts. If you stop any or all business with those located in North Carolina or New York City, it will send a message. Let’s do the same thing and nail the shows on networks that advertise their products. Not too mention if you get the opportunity to rate any of their services, give it the lowest rating possible; management always hates that.

  • D.R. Harris April 13, 2018, 7:26 am

    Discrimination

  • David Gray April 13, 2018, 7:11 am

This isn’t the first time BofA dropped their collective dicks in the dirt. I’d drop them like a hot rock over this, but I already did years ago over another of their arrogant stunts.

  • Jay April 13, 2018, 6:16 am

Hit Back people! Close all accounts with any Bank of America owned or run institutions and close all Credit Cards owned and run by them! There are plenty of others out there!

  • Billy M April 13, 2018, 6:08 am

Another idiot that knows nothing about guns, who lives in an ivory tower, thinking that taking guns away from law abiding citizens will stop these attacks.

  • Pete April 13, 2018, 6:06 am

Dump their stock! Close any BoA accounts you have, and move to a real bank! If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so is “scary looking.” There are so many sporting applications of the AR platform this is really preposterous. This decision opens up a real money making opportunity for some other bank.

  • Warren April 13, 2018, 6:05 am

One of the world’s dirtiest banks and now they are suddenly on a moral high horse. Don’t you love the irony?

With that said, not a problem. The gun manufacturers will just do business with other banks.

  • luckieboy April 13, 2018, 5:31 am

during the 2008 bank bailout boa reduced my line of credit from 12k to 7k. having never missed a payment i inquired why. their response was “it’s our money ,we can do as we see fit.” i reminded them it wasn’t their’s but rather our grandchildren’s and their grandchildren’s. for this coment the gentleman representing boa rewarded my opinion by further lowering my credit to 4k. his answer again “its OUR money,we will do as we see fit”. still i remained a loyal customer. STUPID ME. i am now in the market for a lending institution that is not afraid to stand up to the anti-gunners. oh’ by the way’ my credit score is 800. i am sure someone wants the business of 40 milllion gun owners . what an opportunity. long and short i making a move does anyone know a bank with a backbone and conviction? please help. thanks

    • James Miller April 13, 2018, 9:15 am

With that credit score (same as mine) you should have no trouble with any chosen credit card clamoring for your business. There are many small town banks and credit unions available to patronize (I am assuming you are in a “small town”) I have the bulk of my money and CC with JPMorgan Chase (1 of the “big 4” national banks) but will close those accounts in a minute if they follow these other two. Wells Fargo is the 4th “big one.” I do keep a couple thousand in a small local bank (nearest Chase branch is 20 miles away) for cashing/depositing checks and a readily available “slush fund.”

  • Namara April 13, 2018, 5:27 am

It is adapted from the Interagency Policy Statement on Fair Lending issued in March 1994. The Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA) prohibits discrimination in any aspect of a credit transaction.

  • DBC April 13, 2018, 4:35 am

It’s going to make an interesting discrimination case!
Companies making legal products are entitled by law to equal consideration by public lending institutions!

    • Luke April 13, 2018, 8:56 am

That would be a good point except that the rule of law in America is mostly dead for lower middle class tax payers.

  • Daniel R. Furbee April 13, 2018, 3:57 am

      Good response.

So much of the power these banks think they have is stemming from the person whose name is on the bottom of the above video clip. Seems Mr. Bloomberg has been a busy boy behind the scenes strong arming the banking industry.

  • Tim April 13, 2018, 2:45 am

So BOA can do this crap, and they are applauded for it. On the other hand, a Christian bakery is put into financial ruin for exercising it’s right not to bake a cake for a gay couple. Show me please where liberals get a pass on picking and choosing which part of the Constitution they like to enforce or infringe upon?! What’s the point anymore, the 2nd says clearly that it SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED, yet it has been hundreds of times by countless tyrants in every part of government and nothing is being done about it. When will the people say enough is enough, or will we just be content with watching them rape our Bill of Rights until they are satisfied?? This is a time of madness I tell you.

    • Pete April 13, 2018, 6:08 am

It’s only a wedding cake they refuse to make, not any other cake.

    • BILL April 13, 2018, 7:27 am

You know, I asked this very same question to Chad and Eric and they are so brave that they said they were not allowed to answer that question. I thought that was about weird. Not allowed? Can’t talk about that? Really. All Eric said was “well, things aren’t that crazy yet” ok, they’re not?

  • Romulus April 12, 2018, 5:12 pm

  • Jaque April 12, 2018, 4:58 pm

How is this any different from any other discrimination case ? Imagine if a bank refused to loan money to planned parenthood. Or to black owned business. Every Marxist media site would be all over the bank and Chuck Schumer and his gangsters would be holding hearings.

The left has fired the first shot in what is going to result in a second revolution and perhaps civil war. From what I see of the RINO party and their feckless lawmakers they will not be behind saving the second amendment.

  • Rob April 12, 2018, 11:59 am

This is a joke. A bank should never be able to use is lending power to get around constitutional laws.Ar’s are legal. What is the next step? Are you going to stop lending to conservative groups. Like, you can’t borrow money for your building because your pro life? Banks should only concern themselves with someone’s ability to repay a loan.

I can tell you B of A and Citi Bank will never see any of my business. Maybe it’s time to boycott them?

    • guaranteed lawsuit April 13, 2018, 3:14 am

Yet if they said they wanted to not loan money to someone due to their being homosexual, they’d get a lawsuit. Sexual orientation isn’t an amendment, so why does it get more protection than the actual ratified parts of the constitution?

As a note, Citi are the group that does financing for home depot.
