French "Wonder" Dbl. 18.3 metric(1898 Proof)

This is s French Smokeless powder Double Barrel Shotgun. I acquired it from the nephew of a WWII Vet who brought it back from France. The name on the top of the break action is "Wonder". It is in it's original case. My guess is that it was a gentlemen's hunting gun. The hunting strap slings are both present. The serial number on all parts is 732. The proof mark is a Triple Crown with the letter P T under it. The gun marks book I have says that it was made between 1898 and 1900. The proof mark changed in 1900 to the triple crown with the P.T. ( periods between the letters). When I marked minor wear, that should almost be "as new" The case of course is worn , but the gun is immaculate. The bores are very clean and shiny. The engraving is present on many parts including the screw heads and around the screws. The rib is engraved and near the receiver on the barrel as well. There is crisp checkering in the forearm and the hand position spot on the back stock. The butt plate is made from horn. The wood appears to be European is a quality gun and one that must have been the pride of it's original owner for sure.
