Seller Description
Wm. Moore & Co. SxS 10 gauge
Proof marked in Birmingham, my reading would make it about 1862. That is my reading.
Left barrel is proofed 10 gauge, right barrel is proofed 12 gauge. Both barrels are chambered 10 gauge 2-1/2 inches.
Nicely wire wound barrel; looks like a slab of bacon. Both barrels ping. I have not had them reproofed by a current gunsmith, you would, I believe, want to do so before shooting this gun.
It will take black powder shells. I would suggest you handload 2-1/2" full brass casings - loading them is actually pretty easy - powder, cardboard, shot, cardboard, in place with Duco cement. Or if you're gonna shoot right away, go for it.
Wood is in great shape. Engraving is not as fancy as some 1860's weapons but is very nice. I am putting in lotsa pictures. They pretty much tell everything.
$45 Priority Mail. This is an antique firearm and can be shipped freely unless in violation of state law; it is not in violation of my state law. Query with more questions, give email and I can send pictures of proof marks and more, please.
