WINCHESTER - MODEL 55 .22 S,L,LR Single-Shot Automatic, C&R OK This Winchester M-55 is from my personal collection of guns I will be selling prior to my retirement. Hard to find in this condition. This is a Winchester Model 55 single-shot rifle. Chambered for .22 S, L, and LR, is an "automatic single-shot"...that is to say that after cocking, a single cartridge is hand loaded through the top port and upon firing the empty case is ejected through the bottom port and the action is re-cocked. When another shell is pushed down through the gate for loading, the safety automatically resets. The barrel measures 21-3/4" in length and is fitted with iron sights. Overall conditions is quite nice and this rifle has not been fired all that much. Rate gun at 97-98% with the most minor of handling marks from safe storage – see photos. The mechanics are in good working order and the bore is excellent. These were made in somewhat limited numbers from 1958-1961...a strange concept that was probably doomed from the an interesting and collectible Winchester rifle. +Insured S&H of $35.00 to your local FFL dealer for transfer.
