Seller Description
1895 Carbines were furnished several ways and this one has a genuine saddle ring, and a cleaning rope in the butt trapdoor, just like some of those used in the Spanish American War. Best of all; it is caliber 30-06, the most desirable and useful caliber.
Perfect for hunting most big game on all continents. (Teddy Roosevelt used a rifle in cal. .405 Win for Lions in Africa and a carbine in caliber 30-40 Krag when leading battle charges in the Spanish American war). Barrel is 99% original blue, receiver about 50% on left side and 80% on right side. There is even a cleaning rope under the butt trapdoor. Original military wind gauge sight . A few dings in the butt stock and fore end, but they only add to its charm. A rare find and how many like it are available for your collection and for hunting? (this one was made in 1923) . The caliber marking on the receiver is stacked and reads: .Marked: 30 over GOV. over '06. which tells us it handles the government version of the 30-06 cartridge. I have shot both Government and commercial 30-06 ammo in it and it is just fine for either. Model 1895s were used by several different governments military orgs., because of their strength and reliability, so only about 28% of the total production was available for civilian purchase. A gun to be proud of at a reasonable rice.
