Winchester Model 21 16 Gauge Field - EARLY GUN, DOUBLE TRIGGERS 16 gauge, 6 3/4lbs, sn6054 Most admirers of Vintage American doubles recognize the Winchester Model 21 as the strongest of all the makers and well suited to the most potent shells you care to touch off as you ply your sport. The Field Grade 16ga. is really hard to come by and this one is in beautiful condition. Most Model 21 guys are aware that a properly restored Model 21 is a very desirable, collectible, investment quality double gun. This gun is a great investment that can be enjoyed chasing upland game, or busting clays at the club or back 40, and continue to grow in value as long as you care for it properly. Most all of the Model 21 guns you see are with beavertail forends and single selective triggers and weigh close to 7lbs. This gun is tight as new and weighs in at 6 3/4lbs, sn6054. The 28" barrels retain 99% blue, mirror bores, 2 3/4" chambers, choked M/F and so stamped from the factory (.009/.028, about the most perfect pheasant, sharptail and western upland chokes, as well as late season grouse. Can be altered to your specs for $90 per barrel), bore diameter .669 both barrels, minimum wall thickness 30 thou right, 28 thou left, ribs tight, no pits, scratches, or dents, extractors, barrels tight on breech face and hinge pin, The action retains 99% blue, perfect screws, action tight with lever right of center, crisp double triggers break at 3.75lbs. right, 4.75 left, trigger guard retains 100% charcoal blue, mechanically excellent in every way. The butt stock and forend retain all of a high quality oil finish, excellent checkering, perfect wood to metal fit, no splits, cracks, or repairs, 14 1/2" LOP to Winchester pad, 13 1/2" LOP to the end of the wood, 2 1/2" drop at heel, 1 9/16" drop at comb, neutral cast for excellent shooting dimensions (stock can be bent to your specs for $200 or less within 21 days of purchase), all in good shape. The forend latch is the early style and adds some appeal to the gun. When considering a gun for the fall's pheasant season and for high volume sporting clays targets, there is none better than the Model 21. Capable of handling powerful loads for wild flushing roosters without a hick-up and choked just right for the job, this gun is an affordable piece of American history and a joy to look at.
