We are offering for sale a Winchester Model 1885 (Model 87) “Winder” Low Wall rifle chambered in .22 Short caliber. This is a “US” marked rifle with the “Flaming Bomb” on the rear tang behind the trigger. This rifle remains in very good, original condition. 28” barrel remains very good with original bluing turning a brown-plum color. There is some surface marks present. BORE IS MINT! Seriously the bore is super bright and shiny without wear. Front hooded peep sight; No rear barrel sight. The receiver is good with some of the original bluing mixed with some loss; Age toning. Receiver has been fitted with a factory Lyman receiver peep sight. Falling block lever action works flawlessly as does trigger and hammer functions. THIS IS A SHOOTER! The original stocks remains good to very good. Shoulder stock has a couple small closed cracks along the buttplate; No major damage noted. The full size fore-end is very good with handling wear; No flaws noted. Stocks has sling studs; Front looks to be original while rear looks like a later replacement. VERY COLLECTIBLE EXAMPLE!!
