LG0894 This Rifle’s 33343000 range serial number dates its manufacture to 1970; it was on the original store shelf in Nashville, then, when Clint Eastwood’s Dirty Harry movie premiered. One cardinal virtue of the .44 Magnum Model 1894 was its ammunition’s interchangeability with the highly desireable Smith & Wesson Model 29s and Ruger Blackhawks. The venerable 94 action chambered in this caliber was only briefly produced under Olin ownership, and not even very many during the USRAC days of the 1980s and 1990s. This rifle comes to us on a trade from one of our favorite Davidson County traders. It has seen a moderate amount of action in the deer woods of Dickson and Williamson Counties in Middle Tennessee; and its surface detractions amount to moderate hunting wear, with moderate amounts of whitening on its glossy black receiver, whitening on the muzzle and sight edges, and one gun rack whitened streak on the barrel. Its hardwood stock and forend is original, and only exhibits some scouring along the lower edge of the buttstock, with weakness to the original semi-gloss finish. Checkered steel buttplate is original. We rate it as Very Good, 75 percent vicinity; photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Specs are lever action repeating rifle; all steel construction with blue finish; 20 inch barrel with traditional windage and elevation adjustable sights; 10 + 1 round capacity of .44 Special and .44 Magnum ammunition interchangeably; weight empty 6 pounds with center of gravity directly beneath the loading gate; length of pull 13 1/4 inches and overall length 37 3/8 inches.
