THIS AD IS FOR A PAIR OF ....WW2 World War II US Navy MK23 MOD1 Practice Bomb Inert This is an Inert MK23 Practice bomb used for spotter/training during WWII, made of Zinc, non-magnetic, complete with striker plate and cotter pin, Mint condition! Item is INERT and free of hazardous components, sold as curio/relic/display only......... MK-23 Mod-1 Practice Bomb............................ THIS IS AN -23 Mod-1 Practice Bomb used for spotter/training during WW11, it is made of cast iron. It is in good condition, item is INERT and free of its hazardous components. It measures 8.3 inches long and 2.2 inches in diameter........................ Description. These bombs were used for low-altitude horizontal, or dive-bombing practice. The Bombs were used with the AN-Mk 4 practice bomb signal that is a blank 10-gauge shotgun shell (extended length) *No longer available*. Signals contained a black powder expelling charge and a red phosphorous pyrotechnic mixture. These bombs also were used with the MK5 signal that contained a fluorescein dye and is actuated by impact on water. When the Mk5 signal is installed, the firing pin assembly is not used. This item is INERT = the marking shell is NO LONGER AVAILABLE.
