The Winchester Model 70 is a bolt action sporting rifle. It has an iconic place in American sporting culture and has been held in high regard by shooters since it was introduced in 1936, earning the moniker "The Rifleman's Rifle". In 1936, Winchester introduced the Model 70 bolt action rifle to the American market. In 1999 Shooting Times magazine named the Model 70 the "Bolt-action Rifle of the Century." The .30-06 cartridge was designed when shots of 1,000 yards (900 m) were expected. One reason that the 30-06 has remained entrenched as an extremely popular round for so long is that the cartridge is at the upper limit of power that is tolerable to most shooters. Production, factory made Mannlicher style Model 70 rifles were only made "Post 64" The years of production were from 68 until 70. About 1200 were produced. About half of the total number of Model 70 Mannlicher rifles were sent to overseas markets. Comes with a Leupold M8 6 X 42 scope.
